Are you saying Carlton wasnt even his 2nd choice

This deal gets better and better
My guess is Carlton actually were. There was noise coming from our board, that's usually right, that he would go to the Blues.

He made the call though. After 7 good years with us at AFL level, and 8 at the club working very hard, he was always going where he wanted.

From a purely pragmatic point of view some exits were necessary, he wasn't pushed out though. The club had to manage it carefully because the playing group are watching and we need them onside.

Trying to push him somewhere he didn't want to go wouldn't help to inspire loyalty, and we still have a lot of re-signing to do next year.

So which club will Cogs end up at?

C’mon mate - that future first wasn’t wasted. Shiels is quality

I think he'll stay. He's invested in the club and didn't put his hand up this year.

You'd think WA the biggest risk but his family actually changed from supporting the Eagles to the Giants. They had the telravelling group around for dinner when we played in Perth in the early years.

Who knows though. Kelly, Cogs and Haynes will play out through the year.

This is a good time to stay too. You guys will be peaking.

But is his friendship with Jaegar O’Meara at all relevant?

You are actually an idiot.

Cheers for a good laugh but
Quality post. Funny how one Essendon supporter post, you all run in like a cult

Hawks didn't want to pay a top 10 pick for him (which they would've had to trade to get). Your pick was in top 10 because you guys were rubbish this season, Hawthorn didn't. GWS wanted what Hawthorn didn't have so Hawthorn had to pull out

Simple

Whilst this post doesn’t resile from making some pretty pointed and blunt remarks it’s hard to ignore the logic in it

You appear to be very simple

Go back to rattling tins

Do you just hate the Bombers, or are you still bitter about the Stringer trade last year?

Tony Sheehan called it too. He was on the money

How so? He is saying that Essendon had better picks, Hawthorn didn’t want to trade their future first and withdrew. People are being really unfair on Compact.
Compacts statement was ridiculous and the fact you repeatedly back it up justifies how ridiculous it was. Keep punching mate.

The Shiel deal was done a long time ago and he is committed to the bombers for long term.

Hopefully GWS can keep their talented squad together after this seasons fire trade sale.

How come Tony Sheehan suggested that this was the case? Remember that he called Buddy to the Swans way before everyone else. People might have issues with Tony but his source was obviously very good

- Hawks withdraw
- Therefore Blues were in the hot seat but
- The Bombers are coming hard (with their two first rounder offers).

He said this before Shiel nominated. We then get Scully which allows the Giants to play hardball due to having less salary cap pressure i.e they were willing to hang onto Shiel.

It then plays out until the final hour.

Why are Bombers posters in denial here? It doesn’t matter anyway. Shiel will be great for you guys. Just let it go
