As of right now, we have 3 empty slots on our senior list and the minimum amount of rookies allowed, so no re-shuffling allowed. We'd have to de-list someone if we wanted him.
We have 35 players but we can go as high as 40 on the senior list if we wanted to take the minimum 4 rookies. So we could take Moore as a delisted FA upgrade Lambert & Castagna and still use 12 & 52 on a couple of kids.

Where's Jayden Short in all these upgrade convos?

To me, he looked the pick of the bunch on our rookie list including Lambert early. Plays a role we need. Where as Castagna whilst impressive plays a half back role we now have filled with Yarran and of course have Houli.

Interested to know why he has been left out of discussions.

Only reason I don't think they would elivate him is if we are eyeing off a DFA, so no rush to do it immediately

Fwiw I expect him to get senior games this season, the other small forwards have hardly owned the role

costagna looks to have the tools , needs to bevel a few rough edges if he is too push up alongside houli and Yazza for a game, is progressing though. short would need to burst out of the blocks early , like a lot of the kids above if they are to go past some est players , I sincerely hope that they do, coz that's healthy

These a story over here in Adelaide that he is 'destined' to join Richmond.

For what its worth I think its am astute pick-up. There's some over here who think whilst he is not a top line talent the style of play under Hinkley coupled with big bodied players such as Wines and Boak mean that he never gets a great, clean or consistent run in the positions best suited too him. I believe he was the sub more often than not.

Plus he is a genuine big bodied midfielder. 190cm 89kg (or something close too) we don't have a lot of. The only real exception is young Townsend. Some new depth in that area hopefully will help the likes of Cotchin and Miles.

Only problem I see is if we have to make another list change (you would suggest Dea) it leaves us a little short on that medium defender after Grimes/ Batchelor.

I would rather re-draft Kelvin. ;)

Seriously, though, I actually haven't seen too much of him since he was drafted. When he was drafted he was a bit of a jack-of-all trades, master of none, who played mainly on the half back and half forward flanks. I would question whether we really need a mid-sized utility like that - we've got quite a few mid-sized forwards and backs who are firmly entrenched in the 22.

He showed some good signs but he didn't play much football due to inury and he never really dominated either. Both Lambert and Castagna dominated on several occasions. For mine, we just upgrade Lambert, because he's the only one we would be looking at playing right off the bat. Castagna was good but still has some work to do on his composure and ball use, and as you mentioned, Yarran will probably be filling the same position he would play. Short would need to work his way up to some consistent, high quality performances before he got a look in.

Not sure why we would delist Dea - we'd be delisting one player who absolutely dominates VFL footy but is rather unknown at AFL level due to lack of opportunity, and getting a player who by reports dominates SANFL footy but can't seem to contribute at AFL level. I'd rather take my chance with the unknown at AFL level.

Could get him free now as delisted FA right? Is he worth overlooking a young bloke getting a spot on the senior list?
