Not unexpected, given the nature of his injuries, but I'm pretty sure Dale will be able to retire in comfort once he completes his bestseller 'AFL Warrior 101- How To Defeat Anyone You Are Matched Up On'.

Imagine the conversation at the selection committee.
"Right, let's get started. Morris. Has he got something broken?"
"No."
"OK. Next."

Best wishes Dale. Thanks for the confidence you brought, to the team and the supporters, and for some of the best Bulldog moments ever.

Just a magnificent player and servant of the club. Hope he stays on in some kind of coaching/mentoring capacity.

One of my all time faves.

Loved Jono Brown's comment that when you saw Morris come to you at the start of a game your heart sank a little.

And THAT tackle!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just did everything right this fella, on and off the field. He’ll be a sore man when he’s older but hopefully it was all well worth it! Love you Moz

Sad day. One of the bravest players we’ve had. One of the hardest workers we’ve had. One of the most selfless players we’ve had. One of the smartest players we’ve had. Thanks for everything Dale. The chasedown tackle in the 2016 Grand Final was the epitome of Dale Morris’ career.

Hopefully he stays on as a coach and we don’t lose him at all.

Thanks Moz

He revealed on Triple M that, when he went down to the rooms, he let club doctor Gary Zimmerman put his broken bone back into place, right there and then.

“My arm was bending where it’s not meant to bend, and 'Zimmer' put it back in place in the change rooms as I was taking my boots off," he revealed.

"I had my arm up on the bench, I was taking my boots off and he said ‘I just want to try and manipulate this in a little bit’."

Darce couldn’t believe it.

“That’s where you say nup,” he laughed.

“That’s where normal people tap the mat and say, nup, not for me."

“I had my arm up, I didn’t want to watch,” he said.

Morris described the feeling of having his bone reset, without painkillers.

“He just grabbed it and pulled it, you could feel like a suction and a pop sort of a feeling.

“Before I knew it, I was feeling around and I said ‘are you done?’ and he goes ‘yeah, I’m finished’."

That broken arm came in round 18. He was back out there for round 22.

Legend.

I think it is ok to shed a tear about a footballer ?

Even MD will be wiping away a salty liquid discharge from his eyes right now wondering what it is !

Picking a team from all the blokes I have seen in our colours over 50+ years , 3 blokes are walk up starts without even thinking about it :
Hawkins , Bont and MOZ

What a star !

I remember in 2015 sitting on the same table as Moz during the pre-season launch

Apart from being a fan boy, i asked him about is there still a rivalry against Saint Kilda back in the prelims days.

He told me that the older players on the list remember and before every match up they will go into detail about how they robbed us of a grand final spot

What an ironman. Dale's courage is second to none. I think he's earned a well deserved rest.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." You will not be forgotten.
