The rats will announce a couple of signings this week according to there coach!
hopefully any signings we make don't cause some of our younger guys to miss out too much, cause if we can keep them around for a few years, it looks very promising down this way. What did Fish have to say?

If Mal Adams comes, it might just be the piece of string holding the Diggers up. It'll be a great addition if Mal comes and if he is looked upon as a role-model by some, we might just see a few more ex-diggers return. One thing for sure is that we have no idea if this is true or not so we can only hope it is and he does sign.

How did Nigel Sibson go for Nhill this year off the Half-Back Flank? Wore the number 4 if i'm not mistaken. He got in the best a few games i see but doesn't seem to be very consistent. Hope he does well in the black and yellow next year:thumbsu:

Yeah, fair enough. The main reason Horsham has done so well is they have a core group of guys who are loyal to the club and some the sons of old players are the best in the League. I really do think Carr is the best player in the comp and I think Dylan Parish is a star. In fact I'm prepared to say he has a better chance of any other current Wimmera League player of playing AFL.
I guess we are all a bit jealous of what they have been able to achieve. Makes it more fun stirring them up though!

I believe this particular statement is very true and agree with you entirely fancy pants!
I follow this 17 year old youngster every now and then and i think he's a gun. He is an athletic young leading full forward at 189cm and from what i have seen he leads and works hard for the second and third efforts. Had a brilliant performance in the grand final this year booting four goals and taking some brilliant contested pack marks!
I've heard rebels training has started and that he is top age this year.
According to word around they havea beep test coming up soon and hopefully i can get hold of his results from somebody?
He would be hoping for a reasonable score and gain a good fitness base for this year as you obviously think he could be picked up at the 09 draft?

If you know any more info about this youngster it would be gladly appreciated if you posted it thanks fancy pants!

With most clubs starting their pre christmas phase of their pre season it was interesting to hear Dimboola not starting until Feb 09:confused:
For side that needs some developing, an some top line recruits a very interesting move by Gary an co.

United seem to be the other club really s t ruggerling at this point an look set for a long season in 09 unless Mal Adams an others can come on board an make them competitive but finals look a long way off at this stage.

Nhill will look like needing a bus to transport their players over from Adelaide this year. With current players Ried, Graham recruits hargraves, ladhams brothers *2 an with more to follow will be interesting how they are travelling come july next year.

Ararat an Stawell very quiet on the recruiting front but expect singings in the next week.

Horsham have been busy on the phone see the re appointment of Farr an have done well to retain most of there list after Barnett, carr, durak, spasic, batchelor among others hinted at leaving. Look for them to pick up 1 or 2 but be pretty similair to this year.

He's in darwin pal and will not be heading back to adelaide. also last time i checked you could fit 5 in a car. Really thats just a stupid comment. You actually sounded like the mail times then with that comment trying to glorify your story.

However your comment on Dimboola is spot on what the hell are they thinking?? Even district league clubs start training in Nov/Dec. You could probley see it fit with a side full of old blokes and just pull the ones who need fitness/developing to nov/dec. But really for a side who needs alot of developing and rebuilding whats he thinking, good way to start behind the 8 ball i guess.

An Early prediction for "2009"

1. STAWELL
2. HORSHAM SAINTS
3. HORSHAM
4. WARRACK
5. MIN/MUT
6. NHILL
7. ARARAT
8. UNITED
9. DIMBOOLA

Why have the Rats so low? I think many forget that they really should have finished third last year, (in any case finished 4th), and could argue they were a better side than Saints even?! Albeit the Saints certainly proved they were the form side in the finals...
Despite other sides having named several recruits, the Rats have reportedly lost no-one and if they were to recruit a couple, as there has been speculation they will, you would think they would be around the mark again in 09?
Especially seeing their group of promising youngsters now has a season of senior footy under their belts, and a couple of former players (in the 20 to 22 year bracket) have indicated they will return...

Thoughts?

Only an early prediction Bumbles, They certainly need a couple of experienced players to help out fratin an bligh. They really struggled after Bligh went down this year. Is looking towards being a very even year next at this stage but a lot can happen between now and then.

With you wrecker-seems to have Ararat a fair bit lower than I would have thought. Definitly can't see the Rats going backwards, with the young list-and the only way they could drop so low is if other teams improve vastly. Can't see them missing the five, prob not a genuine flag shot, but give them a year or two as the majority of players are in that 20-22 age bracket

Also signed Shane Hutchinson from Ballarat. Warrack Eagles to be horsham's main challenger? Both Gun players. Hutchinson probably the best player in the WFL now.

I reckon your pretty much spot on there RT i think Hutch and George will make that much of an impact for Brimacknabeal that the eagles supporters will be cheering their side on in at least 2 finals in 09. Its going to be a cracker year for the WFL.

All though this may have to do with the LPFL Dennis Bell (Aiden's old man) has signed to coach the Eagles (from what i am told) And maybe taking a few with him. Aiden Has said he will more then likely go with his old man. Can any ararat people add to this? please

Nothing official yet, the Eagles hope for Dennis to come on board in some type of senior role - as to what that will be yet remains unclear, although assistant coach is probably a safe bet!!
Haven't heard of anyone leaving the Rats to go there (Aiden aside) but if they were to go they would more than likely be reserves players rather than anyone else...
Still plenty of water to go under the bridge here tho, stay tuned for more!!

Hope Belly doesn't leave-he's a very good coach in the 2's. Any news on who might be replacing him as Reserves coach Bumbles? And when do we start training?

Head over to the LPFL boards boys and you will see that Dennis has signed on as joint coach with Brett Sladdin.. We had about 30 players on the track last night, pretty good for our first training run and the only new people were Dennis, Aiden, a Big W representative and about 4 other blokes from other clubs.. So like Bumbles said stayed tuned for more.. :thumbsu:
