I refuse to believe that we are so completely inept that, at a board level, this hasn't been recognized. We actually have some very intelligent people running the club and some good business brains in charge

Its why we persist with our medical/high performance team that concerns me. I can only assume that we are operating under the old mates act and "jobs for the boys"; its the only answer i have as to why we are continually tolerating ineptitude in these areas, year after year

From memory, hasn't our current fitness boss been at the club like 12-13 years? That's a great thing to list on his CV, but we need to move him on
Ditto our entire medical team

Annoyingly we have the cash and the resources, we should have the best medical and high performance team that money can buy

When we start year after year with a quarter of our list outright injured and another quarter on heavily modified programs, something has to give
Nah, on past performances …
“We are aware that we’ve had an unacceptable run of injuries this year. As any professional organisation would we have reviewed our structures and recognise that changes have to be made. As such I can now announce that we will be changing our club song. Thank you.”

Trew had Covid for a few weeks , reason Trew left off the list or went missing .

The week after he was dropped from the AFL side, he played WAFL but barely got a touch and wasn’t on field in the second half. The paper reported it as “hip soreness”, but the club didn’t include him on the injury list (as is their wont).

Then the next week he was reported as out with Covid (in the paper, again nothing mentioned by the club), then when he still wasn’t mentioned the following Tuesday and I had a go at them, they confirmed the hip soreness and the Covid.

Then there was a WAFL bye so he didn’t play that weekend, then he returned on Saturday against Subi.

Had a peek at training today

Roughly half the side that played on Sunday were unsighted and those that were did little more than jog/walk a few laps before joining in a very low intensity kicking drill

The guys that played for the Beagles trained separately as a group and did a bit more but still nothing particularly strenuous

Of note :
• Culley showing no signs of his hamstring strain so should be good to come back for the Geelong game
• No sign of Jamieson so miguel sanchez can start firing up his keyboard in preparation
• Petch did some running. Won’t be ready this week, maybe next
• Yeo joined in most of the drills and was moving ok
• Ryan, Rioli, Naitanui, Hurn, Duggan, Barrass, Redden, SPS, Jones and Hough were the players I didn’t spot that played Sunday

West broke his wrist against Gold Coast. You’ll notice though that it wasn’t mentioned at all in the injury update this time last week.

I wonder who got injured against Adelaide that hasn’t been revealed yet?
Based on Keys’ training report, and our medical/S&C teams incompetence, I’d suggest all of the absentees will be ‘late outs’ for the Derby:

• Ryan, Rioli, Naitanui, Hurn, Duggan, Barrass, Redden, SPS, Jones and Hough

😂

At that rate we could end the season the way we started it; using WAFL top ups to make up the numbers to 23.

Any one of our players that remain in Perth and miss the cats game, that require surgery, should be having it this week. Period.

Our 2023 pre season and rehab unofficially starts today. No waiting until next year to pull the trigger. These decisions need to be made now.

If our medical and strength and conditioning teams require extra time to make us competitive, use it now
