Joe Daniher plays 1 good game and is all of a sudden top 10, not surprising Robbo can't remember further back than 4 weeks, I think Tom Green is probably 10 spots too high however outside of this I think he has done a reasonable job at his end of season rankings.

Personally, I would have Harry McKay a head of Curnow, Waterman and even Jeremy Cameron, but that is just because I rate what he did this year so highly, but many disagree.

I think Nick Larkey has to be a top 50 player has been a top forward with no support for a few years now.

Good list.

But the glaring omission from both your list and Robbo's list is....

Josh Dunkley.

He is everything you want in a footballer, and would be one of the first picked at Brisbane. I notice he came 3rd in the Lions B&F - 2 votes behind the winner Neale, and 1 vote behind the runner-up Andrews.

I may overrate him, but he'd comfortably be in my best 25 players.

Also, good to see you have Darcy Cameron in your top 10. Slightly higher than I'd have him, but good, unique selection.

Good shout that one! Again under appreciated I would say top 35.

List is fine except for Newcombe which is laughable.

No issue with this comment if you can back if up.

But,
Top 15 over the past 2 seasons worth of coaches votes.
18th in the Brownlow last year. 10th this year.
Coaches association young player of the year in 2022 ahead of Daicos.
4th in the Gary Ayres medal this year despite only playing 2 games.
Just won a B&F a few nights ago.

Where would you place him personally?

Criteria for the AFLCA Young Player Of The Year Award:

As good as Daicos is, he wasn't able to cram two years of football into his first season....

Newcombe didn't score any votes in his first season.

They both started 2022 from the same point.

We may disagree on a lot but cannot agree more with the above. Josh Dunkley has to be the most underrated player in the comp. The man literally has no weaknesses in his game - can play inside and outside, can play as a defensive midfielder or go forward, take a mark and kick a goal. Star!

We don't disagree about that much, do we?

My point was... Daicos wasn't eligible in 2022.

It's for players who have played two seasons.

I always thought it was possible for a first year player to win it if they polled more votes than any other player over their first two. Unless I'm mistaken?

Nah - It's based on a player's first two years.

If that's the case I've been reading it wrong for 2 years.

I thought the votes were cumulative over two seasons, but you had to be in the first 2 years of your career to be eligible.
So hypothetically speaking, if a first year player scored more than the next best young player over two seasons, they'd still win.

Always happy to be proven wrong though.

Since 2003 where it’s been awarded. The award is based off of the best player inside their first two seasons, counting the votes they get across that time. However, there is no age or game limit, so a first year player could win this if they have more votes than the rest eligible, both Newcombe and Daicos got all of their votes in 2022.
