I was at the prelim between the pies & cats last year and when i was outside having a beer (mcc section near the entrance) some bloke just jumped the big fence and took off. It was so crowded he just blended in and as far as i know was never caught.

Being an ex records seller, Grand Final day (allegedly) used to be a gold mine for us little fellas.

Because you work in groups this was very easy. We would get 3 record boys to take their gear off for someone to rent (usually 200-300 a pop). Then 1 record boy from the group would take the non record boys (dressed appropriately) into the ground carrying an empty bag. Then all of them would go to the toilet, take their gear off and the real record boy would walk back out with with all the uniforms in a bag.

This could go on all day.

As 15 year olds you could (allegedly) make an extra 1 to 2 grand on grand final day

absolutely brilliant i love this, a few forward thinking kids raking in the clams...

very good point. all i will say is that in 1998 a mate and i stumbled upon a fool proof way of getting into the MCG on GF day and then watching the game from a prime vantage point. we have been to every grand final since using exactly the same manner of entering the ground without a worry in the world. it is pure gold. of course the details will have to remain our secret

i was in melbourne grand final weekend 1997 , and decided to try my luck and scalp a ticket.
one bloke offered me a ticket $500 and i said i couldnt afford it , he proceeded to me call me cheap and i told him to f.off.
at that time , a male and female standing nearby approached me(obviously plain clothes police) and i thought i was going to get the once over for my poor language.
they then asked me what had just happened , and i related my version.
i said to the policeman that i was visting from sydney and just wanted to get a ticket for the match.
he said to me how good was my memory ? could i remember a name and a number. i said yes.
he told me that a few officers from his unit had been called away on a job and wouldnt be at the gf
he said to me , that as i was neatly dressed , and if i follow him to the staff entry gate , he could get me in.
all i had to do was tell the gate attendent that i was constable bloggs ( not the real name )from transport unit and my police number was 1234. i approached the attendant and told him this , he said thanks constable bloggs have a good day. i was in .
i offered the two police $50 each , which they refused. they said that they were happy to see someone enjoy the gf
the two officers then took me up to the standing area and i stood up with all the saints fan behind the goals at the punt road end.
thats how i snuck in .
