So, have Fremantle totally snubbed the colour green? RIP the colour green in the AFL.

I know this suggestion might be more appropriate for the graphic design board or whatever it is called, but could someone do a Freo away jumper with:

A.) All green, with the 3 white "v's like the current design

B.) All green with the 3 PURPLE v's" like the current design

The colour I envisage is Electric green. This the brightest possible pure green that can be represented in a 24-bit-per-pixel RGB color space.

a very rushed job but hows this

You're a gun.

The second one (as an away jumper) is the one I had in mind. But with electric green shorts.

There are numerous types of green to use, but there is a BIG difference in all the "greens." You can have a darker, boring office style green, or a yukky puke green, for example. Neither of which are good.

Electric green is awesome because it the brightest green possible that our eyes can decipher. And it contrasts nicely with the purple number 12 on the back. In fact the contrast with the purple is better than the contrast with the green and white, because the white doesn't show up as well on the bright electric green background.

changed the cuffs and collar to purple and added in two possible socks

Very nice. It's very catchy.

Compare the Electric green with the green of the traditional jumper in the post directly above this one. That green - to me - is safe, and boring. It's a very flat green. It's a very "meh" green.

The Electric green one you have done, though, is very marketable. Bright as!

OK, I'll argue. Look at the difference between the colour of the name Fremantle (purple) and the achor logo (dark navy blue) on the left side of your entry. The latter is the colour of their guernsey.
Dark blue : Adelaide, Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, need I continue?

Our new purple is pretty dark but it's still a shade of purple.

Pursuing your argument is pointless unless you're willing to concede that the Carlton jumper looks black to the naked eye and therefore they don't have a distinctive identity of blue.

Yes it's lovely [/sarcastic font]

Feel free to petition the Essendon board to adopt it as a clash jumper because it certainly isn't one of our colours - and we already have a real clash jumper.

No, green isn't one of your colours - anymore. But it has been for 16 of your 17 years (this being the 17th)

I actually like Freo's current jumper. So, it's not really a criticism of the current design which is bold and simple. And reasonably effective,

It's more a criticism of getting rid of one of your traditional colours. A colour that is very distinctive, which no other team in the AFL uses. And with Freo being a new, and therefore more progressive club, who doesn't mind using an away jumper for half their games, the opportunity existed for them tio utilise this traditional colour of theirs - and they havn't.

Think of Glasgow Celtic, the Boston Celtics, Green Bay Packers, Canberra Raiders etc.

The teams that wear green, are usually very well known, and distinctive, often because they wear green.

One of the worst points ever made. The fact that celtic, the boston celtics and green bay packers are so notorious has nothing to do with them wearing green. If im not mistaken, it may have something to do with how outrageously successful these teams have been

Maybe there's a reason for that? Ever thought that maybe purple has become the traditional colour preferred by our supporters?

I know I've always associated us with purple and I bet the majority of opposition supporters have too. We're the purple club, not the green club.

You might as well criticise Port for dropping magenta - that was their original colour and it was clearly very distinctive. But sometimes as clubs evolve their colours evolve with them.

Make the Umpires wear it so they blend into the grass and disappear abit
never again will we see EssVSt's game where umpires wear red and black der
cries of "F#%$ you ya Green Maggot" every time they blow their whistle

I'm sure Fremantle supporters associate more with purple than any other colour, because purple always made up 80% of the guernsey.

I'm sure if green made up 80% of the original guernsey, the Freo fans would think of themselves more as "green" right?

Green, however is part of the Fremantle Dockers AFL history - for 16 of its 17 years. I think its sad to see it go and I believe it would better if it was utilised. In some form.

Probably, but it wasn't, so we don't.

If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle and if Essendon wore yellow you'd prefer that to red and black. All equally relevant observations.

It can be utilised by any club who wants it. We don't. It's all yours if you want it.

With all due respect we'll wear the colours we want, the colours that have come to symbolise our club - and in 100 years no one will associate green with Freo in the slightest. Just like no one associates all the VFL clubs with the weird colours or designs they wore in their early years.

You do support the Green Bay Packers, right?

Relevance?

I support Liverpool too, doesn't mean I want Freo to switch to red. Nor do I want Liverpool or Green Bay to switch to purple.

I'm not a kindergarten kid. I'm capable of supporting different clubs and respecting the different reasons they wear the colours they do without thinking they should all conform to one magic colour.

So, are you one of those people that support the decisions the board of your club makes, no matter what the decision is?

Or did you want "purple and white" back in 1995 and you had to wait 16 years to get your wish?

Ask any Freo supporter on here and they'll tell you I've been one of the more vocal proponents of discarding the red and green for years now.

If you don't believe me feel free to browse some of the history on our board.

I believe you.

Look, I always thought red looked out of place.

Not only is red taken by many other teams anyway, but it doesn't "fit" with green.

There is still a place for green in the AFL, and I'd personally like to see it. Freo - given that they are the only club to have worn it - are obviously the only candidate to use it.

Sad that we will probably never see it again.

Bring on Electric green!

What about this idea Freo fans?

Home jumper: Exactly as it is now. All purple with the three thin white "v's." No change.

Away jumper: Same design as now, but all green with three thin white "v's" green shorts green socks.

Purple and white at home; green and white away.

Yeah that could work but our colours are actually purple, red, green and white. The green is meaningless without the red.

I think they might've toyed with it. Lasted as long as Tarrant did.
