So the Cats are gloating that winning 2 flags in three years is the greatest .....

what a funny thread!

my opinion on the game was that the Cats fell over the line, unlike us last year, we put them away on the scoreboard and had control from the third quarter, but they did do the hard work to get there and did deserve to play off for the grand prize!

i'd be happy to fall over the line in 2010!

Ahh, Geelong supporters. What a truly pathetic bunch.

Well I called it earlier folks - success went to their heads with the 2007 flag and sadly today will just reinforce their delusions and misplaced arrogance.

I know if my team was extremely fortunate enough to fall over the line against a more consistent opposition side you wouldn't get me talking about 'dynasties' and 'greatest ever' but years of following the Hawks has conditioned me to learn how to handle success.

The way some of them are acting you'd think they lost the game!

I get sick of Hawthorn showing us no respect.

Apologies, I must have missed this missive when it was handed out.

St. Kilda fans today didn't make excuses, but admitted that we were the better team on the day. However, whenever we beat Hawthorn, all you losers do is make excuses.

They might not have but your mob made plenty in 08 - don't come on to this board and tell us how to behave.

Whenever Hawthorn lose, it is never because of how they players played, but it is because of umpiring, injuries etc. Geelong had as many injuries as Hawthorn, yet we won the flag, and you didn't even make the finals

Pot, kettle, black - not one supporter from another club can make a comment about a geelong player without a cat supporter being dismissive of the thread or post even if it is correct.

Every clubs supporters are the same so don't go believing your above it all.

Instead of being out celebrating a Grand Final win you're on your computer writing a mini essay on Hawthorn, who weren't even in the finals this year.

Wow, after tonight I'm really starting to get a sense of the emotional destruction we have unleashed upon cats supporters over the years.

Guess that happens when one team has never beaten the other in a game that matters.

Ad-hominem attacks :(

Sorry I am not partying hard enough. I am not even in Australia at the moment, it is actually early morning in the USA. Should I be drunk now? Would that make me cool?

Maybe you could cyber party with your hombres on the geelong forum instead of being so concerned about the Hawks? It's just weird dude.

Did anyone hear Gary Ablett after the siren tell a reporter it had been a 'tough' year in 2009. Tough? Again, they won an overwhelming majority of their games, they made the Grand Final, won that, and Ablett himself wins a Brownlow. And he calls that a tough year? Poor bastards wouldn't survive a week at Richmond.

The cats are a great team. If the saints took all their chances today then the cat would have been shot at the break.... I remember another team who were still in it at half time because of pressure and missed goals....

bugger we can no longer call our selfs the reigning premiers.

Crongratulations to the cats. Party hard.

We'll just have to wait until next year then to see how this all pans out. I hope the rest of the board is able to keep their cool over the long break for, what should hopefully be, a successful year. In all seriousness, are you backing Hawthorn to miss the finals again?

Such anger, little one.

Let go of your hatred. 2008 is gone, we cannot undo what was done.

Enjoy the present.

geelong supporters really need 2 get over last year. face the fact that on the day u were outplayed so instead of trying 2 say it was simply a fluke enjoy ur hard earned and as much as it pains me 2 say deserved victory u had 2day and move on.

I've already gone out and celebrated. I will do some more celebrating later. Funny how you have such an active social life that you have time answer me back on the computer. Don't you have a date for Saturday night? Oh no, I forgot. You wouldn't have a date because you're a Hawthorn supporter.

Yeah but I don't really have anything to celebrate tonight, so I'm just staying in. What about you, anything happen today that might get you off your keyboard?

You are premiers this year - enjoy. \
I can almost hear Denis Commeti - Optimistically or should I say Mysti optically
Enjoy the present.

I love watching Geelong play. Great team. Its something our young team can learn from as we mature as a group. I find it really hard to like their supporters though who show no appreciation what so ever of where they've come from---you spent 44 years suffering complete abject failure as a club, nearly sacking your now 2 time premiership coach-only to create what is now a wonderful period in your clubs history- and you think that gives you the right to become an authority on success? On whether a club is deserving of a premiership? My god... There is no higher form of arrogance than to sit in judgment of another person- vendictively describing their successes as shallow and not worked for- all to make you feel better about yourself.

Tell me- did you go onto the Carlton board before Dick Pratt died and have a go at them for having a president who had charges laid against him for lying to an ACCC tribunal about the price fixing between Visy and Amcor? Were you so offended by that criminal offence that you thought all Carlton supporters should know its just deserts for them- and that it has a direct correlation to their on field success? NO- why would you- Dick Pratt may have had his flaws but he was a generous man to the Carlton football club, him and his wife were philanthropists in many fields- particularly the arts (see the Pratt foundation, and the Production company) and they certainly made a significant contribution to society. It is completely arrogant and vendictive behaviour to associate Jeff Kennett the politician, with Jeff Kennett the president. Clean up your own back yard mate- perhaps look at the political donations scandal of 2006 that Frank Costa was caught up in- and you'll see that every human being has flaws... Yet no one would deny that Costa is a great president- great human being- and has done wonders for the GFC since he became president in 1998.

2009 was not a failure for the hawthorn football club. We blooded 7 first gamers- and won 9 games with the youngest list in the competition. We had far more injuries than geelong- to say otherwise is to just deny the facts- but in taking into account your point about using injuries as an excuse- well no, we cant. That is just to deny the fact that the 22 put out on the park werent good enough to win enough games to get us into the finals--- but given our injuries, given the youth and inexperience we were forced to put into the team this year- my expectations of those young blokes- schoenmakers, shiels, savage, milne, muston, dowler, moss, etc etc etc- was NOT to make the finals- i never expected that team with those players to be able to do it- in fact i think 9 wins is a credit to guys like schoey... I seem to remember a team in 2005 that we had- similar amount of debutants , you might know them, lewis-roughead-franklin- do they ring a bell? well, they only won 5 games that season. So do the math- 9 minus 5 =4. That means that this years team won 4 more games- so am i impressed with the 22 we put on the park for most of the year- yes. Am i happy with their development GIVEN the lack of senior players availble- yes. am i happy we missed the finals? of course not.

You'll find no respect on this board mate if you come on abusing people. Show a little humility and try and argue a coherent point and you'll find you'll have a much better time. Until then- see you in 2010...

Yep, bet you ripped through that 12 pack of Woodstock and cola pretty fast before moving onto the aftershave, lemon essence and other products containing industrial-grade Ethanol.

Keep in touch and let us know if the experimental baboon liver transplant takes hold too.

We're kind of hoping it doesn't.

Won't Hawthorn supporters at least admit that their jumpers look like someone pissed on them, and then crapped on them?

Kind of like your clothes about now, I'm betting.

Did stray dogs follow you home?

See, its these types of Cats supporters that give us a bad name

2008 Grand Final, Get Over it, The hawks didn't just beat us, they smashed us, they played the better footy on the day and won. Nothing more to be said.

I wonder how many of our supporters actually went back and watched the game again, at quarter time Cats lead by 1 point, so you would say that was a close, even quarter of Footy.

in the 2nd Quarter the cats kicked 1.9 to the hawks 3.1, so we had one quarter of poor shooting, hawks lead by 3, which extended to 17 at 3 qrt. The 3rd qrt they dominated us, they went in lower and harder, they tackled harder they just wanted it more.

5 goal margin in the end, Congrats hawks on winning the flag, that's what we fans should of been saying instead of whining like little children.

We won it this year, doesnt matter how, whoever won on the day was the better side its as simple as that.

If hawks can get there full squad a good preseason then expect the top 4 to be Geelong, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Bulldogs (Not in order)

Imagine that finals series :)
