I can't believe how negative you all are... wow the Pies lost one game to a super hungry and desperate port who knocked off last years premiers the week before.

Let it be a wake up call and fire up. Pies could seriously win 6 or 7 more games. On their day they are as good as anyone. There is a long way to go..quit giving up ffs and take some lessons from last week ...go out and smash carlton and roll on from there.

Yeah but we've played terrible all year even when we were winning games.

I wouldn't mind if we lost if we put up a fight but we just give up in last quarters when down by a few goals. At least fight the game out to the final siren.

Thanks mate. The bitching is getting old. :)

It's fair to say that we played like spuds last week, and that this year sees the team in a transitional phase; so it's partly warranted. But this board sees negativity even after a win.

It does my head in.

I seriously believe that if we make some brave decisions including getting rid of maxwell, have a good run of fitness with return of beams, young, Goldsack, daisy, jolly, Krak, Keefe Dids, we can still take out the premiership.
But we won't if bucks continues to accept b- grade footballers.
Might have to win it from outside the 8 but can do if only if bucks gets rid of the unko in the team and tats gonna take some balls and embarrassment

What a shit place to finish.

Thats the kind of finishes that quickly see you become mid of the table team.

Not high enough to do any finals dmg and not low enough to get a decent draft pick.

Now low enough to get a decent pick? we'll get a much lowest pick then we had last year and we managed to get three fantastic kids in grundy broomhead kennedy.

I think we will finish 8th.

The games we will win in my opinion are;

Adelaide
Gold Coast
Gws
West coast
North Melbourne

The Carlton game is 50/50

So we will win 13 to 14 wins. If Essendon are not allowed to play finals then we win be 7th.

ban imo :D

Who really cares once you're just making up the numbers.

I'll start caring again once the players do. I'm starting this week by not going on Friday night.
You're kidding right?

I went to just about every game that I could in 2004 and 2005. I knew we had **** all chance of winning. That didn't matter to me, more important was supporting the team. Then in 2006 it turned all around and we saw some success again.

I support the club no matter what, "through thick and thin" my dad always used to say. You just come across as a bandwagoner if you only show up when we're winning.

I was there for every games in 1999, 2004 and 2005 as well.

We were bad, but you could see the players trying but in many cases it was injury/not enough talent.

What I'm seeing these last couple of years is players not giving a shit. I apologise if the way I'm seeing it bothers many of you but it's how I see it. I just refuse to believe Nathan Buckley's gaemplan is "don't run, don't play close to your man, don't offer support to your teammates, don't lead to space, don't put on any pressure".

Because anyone who honestly believe that has other issues they perhaps need to address.

Atm every team would be licking their lips at playing us knowing full well that all they have to do is be in ear shot at half time and they will over run us.

Geeelong/Richmond wouldn't I can guarantee ;)

With 95% of their list having never been exposed to the pressure of a final, I'd love to play the tigers in September.

Give yourself a beer for that comment. People forget that finals are a different proposition all together.

We can still scrape into the bottom half of the eight and hopefully give some kids a final's taste. It will be good for their development long term.

I think that the best we can now hope as its unlikely we will do any real damage in September. Get the kids playing finals, get them ready for next year & have a longer pre season that hopefully rejuvenate the playing group.

Ed sums it all up for me pretty much.

I am not saying it's a fact that there is internal conflict at the club but it certainly seems like it to me. Why would we try in 2011 if we had that so called premiership hangover some people are referring to as the reason for us dropping intensity and not trying. We were even better in 2011 than we were in 2010 IMO but since 2012 all I see is the younger blokes trying and the older blokes just walking around waiting for it too all happen. That's how a poor club culture starts and then it's difficult to change it.

If the older players don't like Buckley because he is hard on them then they go. They are grown men who should be treated like grown men not like bloody children. I don't care how good they have been in the past, I do not want people at the football club I support who are not going to put in effort and are not going to be good role models for our young blokes.

I just hope there is nothing wrong internally and it's a lazy period the players are going through but I doubt it.

There is a clear problem with second halves for our team. This is unlikely to be fitness, but is very likely to be lack of talent. Teams that have been short on talent have always faded in second halves when effort has had them operating at maximum for the first half and competitive, but too much has been used up for it to continue in the second. The other view on this is that there are just too many young players to hold up for four quarters when the senior players are not dominating.
The second problem is the forward line. If Cloke doesn't get it, and Elliot doesn't do something spectacular, then the ball is rebounded. The other forwards are not dangerous, and are ignored by the opposition. it seems to me that the tactic of Cloke plus a resting ruck as our only tall forwards is a failure, and a new approach is needed. Whether it is two genuine rucks, or a centre half forward with a part time ruck, a change is needed. For the other forwards, perhaps they are just not there yet, and we have to wear the fact that until they gain some experience, they are not going to achieve much. Or perhaps they are not good enough.

I see us finishing 7th which is disappointing after a poor 2012. After winning the premiership in 2010, I honestly expected more from the squad, but it seems we were already on the way out.

More than anything, I miss the teams belief that they can win the ultimate prize. I remember Heath Shaws comments in 2008 "Look out. We are going places". We seem a long way from that conviction at the moment. Most disappointing has been our defence. It really has not stepped up at all and let's face it, all top teams have a solid defence. Defensive Coach & Players are at fault.

Really? I think our defence has done an admirable job considering how leaky the midfield has been and how easily the ball comes out of our forward fifty.

I am missing our defensive run from Jono and Shaw. (not harry) Also our ability to bring the ball in after a point has been very poor.

Yep, we really have not been able to replace Leon Davis for taking those kick ins.
But i think Heater has been good this year and with Seedsman we have a run and carry type who will be handy long term. Hoping Young can come in and also make a difference.
