Source, high official at Essendon.
Essendon are prepared to trade Solomon for either Brown or Stephens. May not come off but Solomon is for sale.

They will need 2 of him to snare either Brown or Stevens IMO.

Wouldn't be the second round draft pick, for the eighth-placed club that won't be good enough.

essendon finished sixth after finals didn't they?
Why would we trade a hard nut for a soft ****?..

The reason Essendon loose Soloman is because of salary cap pressure. There is no way that either Brown or Stevens would be able to fit in.

Is the draft order decided on positions at the end of the major round or home and away?

and i don't think port fans can expect too much from stevens. if port ask for too much, then they risk losing him for nothing in the pre-season draft. your bargaining power is zip.

The draft order is worked out from the end of the finals, as in last pick in 1st rd, Brisbane, 2nd last pick Collingwood, 3rd last pick Sydney etc.

Essendon could find the extra 100k if they wanted to badly enough, but if Solomon is playing hard ball then Sheedy is just as likely to **** him off, he's notoriously harsh to people who make demands of him and the club. Negotiation is fine, but if Solomon is trying to hold Essendon over a barrel, then we'll **** him off for the best offer possible.

port would actually be 3rd last pick, but other than that, you're right.

it's based on where you finished on the home and away ladder.
