How is Buckley’s position tenable after that Treloar quote?

“...also, your mates hate you and reckon you should leave too...so ya know...leave yeah?...”

It did work I guess.

When coupled with Stephenson’s “you haven’t opened up enough to the other players..”, either Buckley has decided to make things up completely or....

....perhaps the leadership among the players at Collingwood aren’t great at having direct conversations with other players? Maybe they aren’t very good leaders and prefer to be everyone’s mate instead?

Maybe they prefer an outward appearance and reputation as highly respected nice guys?

^ That said....I think Treloar will ultimately be paraphrasing.

The reality is, if Buckley went to the likes of Pendlebury and said “mate, you know we’ve been working through this stuff with Adam, and I know he’s a good bloke but that deal he signed has the club in a really tight spot moving forward, throw in the shit with Beamer and we need a way out for the good of the club over the next few years. Adam’s misso is going to be up in Queensland next year so he probably won’t be at his best and you know, clocks ticking mate, we’ve gotta make tough calls and we feel that it might be a good time for Adam to move on - it’s the best thing for the club right now”

Pendlebury would have a hard time saying ‘nah keep him! You have to honour that contract!”. He’d probably agree that it might be the best thing to do.

So at the moment you have the Pies embroiled in racism, misogyny and workplace bullying accusation.

2020 is a tough year for Pies fans.....

I think you forgot the ongoing sexual assault case.....

Performance clauses - they kept kicking the can down the road, and it's finally come to a head.
They way they have handled the player exits though has been woeful, and to pretend this is "to get back into the draft" is insulting to football fans who don't buy spin. Pies fans are justifiably angry.
This. You can understand the salary cap getting in trouble to an extent. Players meeting clauses they thought had no chance, unexpected improvement etc.

But it's the way they handled it which has been disgusting. Imagine blaming the whole thing on a players partner.

If only they'd just fess up and tell the members that they screwed the cap and were forced to move players out reluctantly.

All the bullshit about wanting to hit the most compromised draft of all time, and the "the media just want something to talk about" is driving Pie fans insane, and I can't blame them. The spin has been diabolical from Walsh, Guy and Eddie.

I've never seen a club get it so wrong, so badly.

Can you imagine the screaming if what was done to Treloar by his employer had actually been done to a woman because of what her husband was doing?

I'd venture if this happened in the non-sporting world there'd be a very juicy legal case.
dont try on the 'mens rights movement' crap.
