Re: Soundwave 2011.

I wouldn't care for Megadeth or Slayer one iota. I would be over the moon if Tool was there though :D

Re: Soundwave 2011.

Have been a little slack in keeping this updated :( had to fix the computer after someone managed to **** it up. So! With a couple of new announcements being made, to continue to help people get a feel for the bands:

11th Band:

The Sword (http://www.myspace.com/thesword)
American heavy metal band that formed in Austin, Texas in 2003. The Sword is commonly classified as doom metal,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-allmusicbio-1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-archives-3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-lastfm-34 alternative metalhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-allmusicbio-1, and stoner metal.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-lastfm-34 Eduardo Rivadavia of allmusic describes the band as being "at the forefront of … the 'heritage' or 'retro metal' movement," comparing their style to that of heavy metal veterans Black Sabbath and vocalist Cronise to Ozzy Osbourne.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-allmusicAOW-35http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-Arkansas-36 Rolling Stone also likens the band to Sabbath,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-37 as does AbsolutePunk.net in its review of Gods of the Earth, claiming that "It's impossible not to compare [the album] to the works of Black Sabbath."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-38 The Sword has also been dubbed as 'hipster metal,' though Cronise and the band object to such a label.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-interview-0
The band has cited Black Sabbath (the band they are most commonly compared to) as a major influence, in addition to doom trio Sleep, sludge band the Melvins, thrash veterans Slayer, and heavy metal icons Iron Maiden and Deep Purple, among others.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword#cite_note-Sun-Times-39

12th Band

Asking Alexandria
(http://www.myspace.com/askingalexandria/)
An English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire, England. "All of the band listens to similar styles of music but at the same time, we all listen to a lot of different things. Danny and I listen to a lot of '80s metal and rock, like Guns N' Roses, Metallica and Mötley Cr*e We also listen to bands Bring Me the Horizon, the Devil Wears Prada, there's just a whole huge mixture of bands. When we were writing our first album, I suppose our biggest influences were probably more American bands than British. We were listening to a lot of Vanna<, another band called Burden of a Day, so they had a lot of music influence into our first album, to be honest."

Re: Soundwave 2011.

holy cow this line up is totally crap( The Sword excepted) sure hope every one of these try hard kid bands is playing first up in the day. The last 2 soundwaves have been awesome last year in particular, better get cracking on some actual bands that people want to see and pay for AJ.

Re: Soundwave 2011.

Kylesa is some serious ****ing win in an incredibly weak lineup so far. sideshow hopefully so I don't have to attend this abortion of a festival to see them

Re: Soundwave 2011.

Kylesa ****ing rock, and I only just discovered them through those two clips.

What it means to us is, we thought it best described our music, in short

Re: Soundwave 2011.

Kylesa and the Sword have me feeling a bit better about the possible end line up, but I'll follow suit with the earlier comment that these punk/emo/kiddie bands better be the filler.
They are seriously terrible.

I'm keen for the knights of the Sound table to get a call up.
