Cant think of too many clubs who have stayed in Div 1 for 15 years either. Once the money runs out , the slide continues. Like you said, alot play for nothing in higher divisions and the clubs try to buy the half dozon Gun recruits they need to be finals contenders, but when the money is not dished out, the clubs standard also falls.

I think St. Pauls is the only side to have never been out of Div 1

Got this off the EFL forum guys... I know Scoresby isn't right in our area, but I think you will get the picture!

Take a look at the month of February as far as rainfall goes:

Scoresby 4mm (And nil this month)
Stawell 66mm
Kilmore 41mm
Coldstream 48mm
Bairnsdale 108mm
Sale 109mm

Trouble... :{

Im The Gun how are the boys training any news on your recruits?
I know Kris Abaloz well he's a good footballer and will help the midfield. Have you got any other new players down their?
I've been speaking with M.O'brien a fair bit and he said he hasn't been down!

hampton hammer, i have just been told that brendan bennett has joined chelt. how do you think he will go in div 1?? he was a pretty good player in div 2 from what i saw.

Only plays well when the team is doing well, his performance in hamptons last grand final v murrumbeena was a shocked ended up punching some young kid cause he couldnt get a sniff. Does go well with the ladies i will give him that.

Speaking on behalf of the Highett Football club, yes Kris Abaloz is looking real good, easily winning the time trials etc. Excellent skills, seems like a real nice bloke. Not many new blokes, but have retain the height and we'll get back jason Meade and Luke Harris, both injured last season. Fairly good on ballers. About mid range. Like many clubs, if injuries hit, depth will be questioned.

Unfortunately we have the lost 3 club legends in Luke Richards, Peter Poelsma and Ryan Marshall to the world cup and o'seas partying for the year. But as great clubman will be back next year. We hope!

Hey 4qtr time, how's the districts going, will you be slotting into the forward pocket next to Gav Varsallo, Mark Williams, Mick Odachowski, Luke Swan, etc. You guys should kick butt this year with that line up. Look forward to the practice Match - Thursday night 5th April. Sprinvale Districts Vs Highett under lights, hopefully I dont line up on you, as I don't think I will be able to match your pace.

Highett FC ground update - Shocking, patchy at best, cracks are opening up on the wing. Council has given us permission to train on it but it would be too dangerous for the players. A couple of players are alreay getting shin splints, so I can only imagine what this ground would do to the body.

Keep up the chat.... Its all good.

That is correct. He has served the Hammers well over a number of years and has an abundance of talent. On the other side, he sometimes lets himself down (discipline) when things aren't going his way and will need to improve his ability to stick to team rules if he is to make an impact in Division 1. He is a fantastic target to kick to and always makes a contest. Brendan needed a change of scenery to kick his footy up a gear and hopefully the challenge of playing at a higher level in a successful team will foster that for him.

I should slot in somewhere up forward, should be fun! Thanks for blowing my cover! Ha! Night match will be great and if the weekend is anything to go by there is a real good chance you could keep up with me if you know what I mean bud!

Richo, Pete and Swampy all big loses they'll be back for sure...
Gee the Caribbean won't know what hit it with those machines bashing cans in!

from the local rag....

RUCKMAN Kane Batzloff is likely to return to Bonbeach in the MPNFL after balking at a deal to play at Mordialloc in the Southern league.

Batzloff was eager to play at Mordi under Aaron Martello alongside Lee Turner and Wayne Langford, but when they withdrew, so did he.
``It just didn't work out in the end,'' Batzloff said last Friday.
``If the other guys had decided to play, I was going to be all for it, but probably not now.
``Bonbeach was my last MPNFL club and I know most of the guys down there. So I'll probably have a chat to `DC' (coach Damian Carroll) next week.''
Batzloff, 33, has had an outstanding career at suburban level.
He played in Parkdale's 1995 premiership in Southern, was best-afield in Edi-Asp's 2000 premiership and won the best and fairest, did good things for Bonbeach in 2003-04, and finished high in the section medal when he played for Old Camberwell in 2005.
More than a decade earlier he had been drafted by two AFL clubs, Essendon in 1992 and Collingwood in 1993.
Batzloff's decision left his former Edi-Asp premiership teammate Martello disappointed.
But Martello says the Bloodhounds will still have an injection of new players, notably former Edi-Asp players Troy Ogier and Nathan Stockley.
Last week they picked up Andrew Wilson, a ruckman from Beaumaris, and Nathan McNeill from Belconnen Magpies.
Chelsea Heights has brought in some quality, notably former Essendon wingman Darren Walsh, Warragul onballer Leigh Baldry, Frankston Dolphin Phil Mathison and former Chelsea and Hampton Park utility Robbie Lancaster.
Lakes Entrance rover Matt Winchester, fit defender Mick Pratt (Buln Buln in the Ellinbank league) and John West (ex-Chelsea) have also come in, and Brad Alderson and Chris McCann have returned to the club.

Just getting off the on field proformances for a minute, who is the bloke most likely to rack up the most stats off the ground!!! Our 2 would have to be Wrighty and Paynts. No standards or shame!

Highett champion Pete Poelsma went up in a pack of three Aussie's trying to take a catch off Brad Hodge he had his Highett Footy jumper on, classic. Unfortunatley the ball was dropped but a good contest all the same.
