Anyone know what is happening with the divisions next year? To early to speculate? Rumours flying everywhere at the moment. Dingley may knick off if they dont make it to div 1. Parkmore gone leaving 9 teams in div 2, maybe 2 teams coming up from div 3? Maybe no team goes up to div 1, and we have 9 in each div. Who knows???

Never listen to rumours. Unless Dingley have sought permission from AFL Victoria (12 months notice) to leave then they will be staying.

League by-laws state that there must be a minimum of 10 teams in div2.

Plain and simple if Parkmore don't re-form then no team will drop from div2 to div 3, prem from div 3 to go up, and div1 and 2 as per normal, If Parkmore do reform then they would be demoted to div3, so basically the only thing that will happen is if Div3 has 8 or 9 teams next year, this is unless there are any new teams or clubs coming into the SFL

So Springy/Dingley/Caulfield to go up and Heatherton to come down. Mt Waverley/Black Rock/Canterbury to go up and Parkmore to come down. If Parkmore fold then it leaves only 8 teams in Div 3 unless more teams sign on. I'm fairly certain Parkmore are gone for good.

What happens if the teams that sign on are like Dingley and want direct entry to higher divisions? Is there a chance there that the team winning Div 3 premiership will not go up? That would suck for them.

Correct, By-laws state that winner of GF gets promoted, if someone comes in at the higher level then they might have 11 in that div for the first year and demote 2 at the season end, that being said clubs can appeal if for sime reason they don't want to go up or down then it is up to the league to make a decision

Ultimately, the league places new clubs where they think they best fit. Could anyone imagine, based on this year's results, what sort of demolition job Dingley would have done in Div 3? Sometimes it is more viable in the long run for some teams not to be promoted after a flag, especially if it means bringing a much stronger club into the bottom division (ala Dingley). The same has happened in the Eastern, where Balwyn went directly into Div 1, and made finals in their first year. Had they started at the bottom, they would have gone undefeated with an astronomical percentage, leaving the other clubs battling out for second. Ideally, the SFL would love to have each division with the same number of teams, but will always even out higher divisons, so at the moment it looks as though Div 3 could be 8 teams next year. As for Parkmore, I heard they are merging with Salesian in the VAFA.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH DINGLEY VERY HAPPY IN SOUTHERN

The drums are beating the following,
1st Div 12 teams with a final 5.
2nd Div 16 teams with a final 8.

Meaning first two from divvy 2 to divvy 1 and divvy 3 becomes divvy 2.

Somehow and I am not sure where but it seems to have merit.

Everyone assumes Dingley will make the GF and once again the SFL wants to make changes to please Clubs.
If Caulfield beat Dingley and then gets smashed by Spring D do you think they would want to be promoted !!!! and of cause if Dingley finshed 3rd they would still claim they should go up.

Last year Clubs voted against a 2 up 2 down rule whats changed,Heatherton were out of there weight Div this year and once again Mordi hold on by the skin of their teeth.

The system as it is works leave it alone 10 teams D1,10 teams D2,8 teams D3 stop allowing Clubs in just to see them fold in a couple of years Dingley is an exception.

Remember these clubs Parkmore,Brooklyn,Sth Mornington.

That Is All

Hey moron. You might want to check D4 Section in the Amateurs. Think you'll find South Mornington still exist.

Used and abused the SFL for there own gain, very poor the SFL gave this former junior club a life line into senior footy, what did the SFL get back in return......desertion the truth hurts check your facts. That Is All

It's conceivable given Salesian were moved to play there after the ground became available mid-year thanks to being moved off the school grounds at the beginning of the year.

That's what I had heard. Salesian are looking for a viable ground to play at, as they can no longer utilise the scholl grounds, While Parkmore facilities aren't the best, they at least have a ground available.

Will most likely end in a takeover a la Parkdale/St.Pat's Mentone. Apart from the Parkdale name and the ground being used, nothing of the old Parkdale exists anymore.

Didn't Parkdale merge with the Mentone Vultures??????????????

Same diff champ. St.Patrick's Mentone Vultures was the full name. Became the Parkdale Vultures. I believe not even a handful of Parkdale Seagulls persons(I was told 4 did) stuck around after the merger. Effectively St.Pat's took them over for a better ground and facilities than what they had at Southern Road.
