Round 2, Saturday
Kingborough v New Norfolk at Kingston Beach
Triabunna v Sorell at Triabunna
Brighton v Dodges Ferry at Pontville
Claremont v Lindisfarne at Abbotsfield Park
Cygnet v Cent Hawks at Port Park
Huonville Bye

Hard to say which game is the match of the round as the winners from Round 1 will each play the losers from Round 1.
Most interest will centre on Kingston Beach where Kingborough host New Norfolk and the Eagles certainly impressed in their smashing of Huonville. Kingborough will improve as the season goes on but I don't think it will be enough to beat the Eagles.

Sorell travel to Triabunna to take on the Roos who will be fresh from the Bye. Sorell who had to shrug off the Port in the second half and will be hoping for a better start in this game.
Sorell likely to be two from two.

Other games should go the way of the visiting sides, so Dodges Ferry should account for Brighton, Lindisfarne will be too strong for Claremont and Central Hawks (while they don't play well in the Huon area) should have no problems in beating Cygnet.

Tips: New Norfolk by 70, Sorell by 55, Dodges by 80, Lindisfarne by 39, Cent Hawks by 29

new norfolk have to be the flag fav only hope to other teams seems to b an upse on that one day in september<

brighton are the dirtiest side i have playd against i got punched under paks countless times tripped 3 times at centre of bounces, the umpires nwere to itimated to pay a free against them

Your English teacher plays for Brihghton doesn't he :thumbsu:

Mr Sportstalk

No offense but how can you comment on a competition you don't watch?

Do u have spy's?

Had a look at the SFL site today and saw this video

http://www.southernfootball.com.au/

Mr Duffy, I read the newspaper, get the scores off the website, and make my opinions based on that. Plus keep in mind I was down there from 2005-07 so I do know a bit more than what one assumes.

There would not be that much information to read in the newspapers about the local footy down here apart from the scores on Sunday.

What about that big side column on Page 68 on New Norfolk's 128 point win against Kingborough and one paragraph on the rest.
Getting the scores off the website on a Saturday night helps me, even though there isn't much detail there something is better than nothing.

Typical!, the only weekend that I was out of Tasmania, they decide to write up something decent......:(

Next Week (Sunday April 26, Round 3)
New Norfolk v Brighton, Dodges Ferry v Claremont, Huonville v Kingborough, Central Hawks v Triabunna (Oatlands), Lindisfarne v Cygnet
Bye: Sorell

NB: Dodges and Claremont is being played today at Shark Park.

Match of the day is a bit easier to pick this week, as winless sides Huonville and Kingborough meet at Wilmot Road Sunday. Kingborough will be keen to regain some form of confidence after it was battered by the rampaging Eagles at Kingston Beach last week. Certainly any side that faces the New Norfolk Eagles will be in for a long day in the office. Here I think Kingborough might be able to turn it around and get the win on Huonvilles turf, the Lions aren't settled just yet.

Central Hawks host Triabunna in a bit of a danger game for the home side, given Triabunna have proven they'll be more than competitive in 2009. Hawks have started very well and should get the job done here.

Other games should go to the home sides being New Norfolk, Dodges Ferry and Lindisfarne comfortably.

Tips: New Norfolk by 160, Dodges Ferry by 130, Kingborough by 20, Cent Hawks by 35, Lindisfarne by 110

SFL Round 4 Previews

Claremont v New Norfolk at Abbotsfield
Sorell v Cent Hawks at Pembroke Park
Cygnet v Dodges Ferry at Port Park
Brighton v Huonville at Pontville
Triabunna v Lindisfarne at Triabunna
Kingborough Bye

Round 4 will focus on the Match of the day at the lower end of the table with both Brighton and Huonville needing a win to keep in touch with the top 6.
Huonville put in a much improved effort against Kingborough and will fancy their chances against Brighton, who got horribly slaughtered by New Norfolk and will need a win in this game to just install some confidence.
I think Huonville will record the win here.

The other game of interest seems to be at Pembroke Park, where the Central Hawks haven't got the best of records against Sorell, however this year seems to be the best chance for the Hawks to get that ledger back to evens. Certainly the Hawks form of 28.9 last week is potential and if given the chance the Hawks could make the Eagles day a tough one.
Tipping the Hawks.

Other games will see the visiting sides get the points, being Dodges Ferry, Lindisfarne and New Norfolk.

Tips: New Norfolk by 150, Cent Hawks by 27, Dodges Ferry by 120, Huonville by 21, Lindisfarne by 45

Fixture (Round 5)
New Norfolk v Cygnet at Boyer, Kingborough v Brighton at Kingston Beach, Huonville v Claremont at Huonville, Dodges Ferry v Triabunna at Shark Park, Lindisfarne v Sorell at Anzac Park
Bye: Central Hawks

This weeks game of the day looms at the foot of the table between 7th place Huonville and 9th place Claremont. The Lions while it was a win against Brighton will be filled with confidence ahead of this one while Claremont will just be relieved not to face one of the "power 4" this week. Still at home I'll say Huonville to get win 2.
The Other game that lurks with interest is Lindisfarne and Sorell at Anzac Park, but the Eagles will need their forwards to fully fire otherwise a long day awaits there. Tipping Lindisfarne.
The other games should go to the home sides being New Norfolk, Kingborough and Dodges Ferry while the Hawks will remain in 4th place after the weekend bye.

Tips: New Norfolk by 195, Kingborough by 78, Huonville by 46, Dodges by 150, Lindisfarne by 110.

Anyone else concerned about how uneven our comp is this year? Even come finals time it's looking like there are probably going to be some big floggings.

Just a bit of a worry if clubs will be able to keep going if they are looking at 200 point floggings from time to time. Look what happened to Channel last year. Is this something that is going to become more frequent over the next few years?

Surely it is going to be hard to keep people interested at both ends of the ladder. I would also think that crowds aren't going to be as high when a couple of teams are going to have training drills out there on Saturday.

"There won't be the blowouts alot of people are predicting." SFL President Paul Harriss, March 2009.

Who did he think he was kidding?

While we always say "you never, never know" and "Look what happened to Lindisfarne last year!" it's just doesn't seem possible that New Norfolk could possibly not win the SFL Flag this year.

"Power 4"? Whilst Claremont sadly for them drew the top 4 as it stands now in their first 4 games, I think, and feel Ozguy may agree, that the Hawks are a bit short of the "Big 3" given the only victory of note they have is over Sorell. Claremont, Triabunna and Cygnet all certainties alongwith Brighton to comprise the "feeble 4". However, in fairness to the Hawks, they can only play who is put up against them.

As relates to the SFL v NTFL Rep Game later in the year, I suggest they just pick the whole New Norfolk side and add the cream of the other clubs.

Woudl make for one hell of a side and I dare say if we can't beat the NTFL without all the TSL clubs then we never will!

Out of interest Barge, who is the 3rd member of the Big 3? Assuming Lindisfarne, but based on how they went on the weekend I am not that sure.

I certainly don't believe we are top 2 material, but I would give us a chance of getting over Lindisfarne, especially at Oatlands.

You in turn rating Dodges Ferry a clear No 2 over Lindisfarne?

Are you adopting the schoolboy theory that the Hawks are better than Lindisfarne given the Hawks beat Sorell by more than Lindisfarne did?

Conceding the Central Hawks can't beat Dodges Ferry?

I just feel that we are a hell of a lot better side than we were last season, and I think we can match up really well against Lindisfarne.

I rate Dodges clearly above Lindisfarne yes. I just don't think we can beat Dodges, especially down there next week.
