Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Completely agree. I would have thought getting him in was a complete no-brainer, all-things-being-equal. He was a big thorn in our side when we played them this year. Was about as good as any game Battle played.

He’s plug-and-play, or at the very least, excellent depth.

Shows how much clubs rate the draft that guys like him are currently homeless.
We have so many free list spots that I will be surprised if we dont sign a delisted key back or ruck. As good as this draft is, I dont think we can fill up with just 18 year old kids.

Yeah I imagine clubs will start loading up on these guys from the rookie draft onwards. The Tomlinson, Matchbank, Clurey types.

What happened with Van Es? Pick 31 in the 2022 which means he was in th best half dozen key defenders in that draft now 2 years latter he dumped from a side desperate for key defenders. He only 20 surely he is worth a rookie spot

Apparently his ankle is or was so bad that he’s lost feeling in his foot and it affects his ability to jump or kick a footy.

Interesting, that the saints offered their F1+F2 for Pick 13, and the suns said no

Wonder if GWS will take them for Pick 16?
If the reports of GWS are correct that they knocked back #3 for #15 + #16 i would highly doubt they would be interested in any future picks as they have 6 main list spots and 2 rookie spots to fill so if they traded the 15 & 16
They would enter the draft with 21,37,56,74 and get another 3 picks in the 90's which i cant see happening

Quick look through some stats.
Both Philipou and Windhager have shown potential to be clearance players.

This is seen as the Saints biggest weakness.

Windhager had some 7s and Pou some 5s .

I'm thinking the Saints biggest list flaw is a key defender.

Defence held together by Wilkie and Battle last season.

I'd be going -

Key Defender (? - not Trainor)
Mid with speed (Trevaglia)
Back up mature ruckman

Completely agree. It's why I'm hoping that North pass on Tauru so Saints can take him and address that defensive hole. We should also take Cole as an academy player who is a very defensive key back so pairing someone like Tauru would cover both types of key backs. Then a mid with the other top 10 pick and it would be a great haul.

And not signing a mature ruck - either in the draft or leaving a list spot to sign someone in the preseason - would be the biggest list mistake we could make heading into next year. We will be conceding any finals chances if we dont get Marshall any back-up support.

Right from day 1 Windy was dominating VFL games in the midfield (high disposals, contested possessions, clearances, tackles, and regular goals) and the first time he tagged for us in the seniors might have been the first time he’d tagged in his life, so I think there’s a very good likelihood of him having a good career in the midfield at AFL level.

He’s quick, dynamic, highly competitive, wins his own ball and has the engine to run all day.

His weakness is that his kicking isn’t really up to snuff.

Hugo Garcia is actually very similar to Windy in all those respects, except that he looks to have a very good and piercing left foot.

Considering where he was picked, he was a bit of a revelation this year, especially with some of the footy he played in the VFL, and glimpses in the AFL.

He had one VFL game of 34 disposals, 12 tackles, 10 score involvements, 9 clearances and 3 goals.

He’s another one that could be fantastic at tagging, then be freed up to chase his own ball. He’s an absolute terrier.

Then of course there’s Pou, who showed late in the year in the midfield that he could be anything,

So it wouldn’t surprise me if we went midfield with our first pick, and then split our next one and went tall with at least one of those picks.

We’ve just cleared a heap of height off our list and so far haven’t replaced any of it.

Caminiti could be the one to play back though. Showed some promise there against Brisbane this year and we’re hearing a lot of talk that he’ll replace Battle.
