OK so expect to get smashed this week. A loss under 10 goals will be a positive, aye?
No it wont, i hate how we accept honourable loses.
But the crows have smashed us from pillar to post the last half dozen times we have played them

No you idiot, I’ve been negative all off season but still didn’t stop the shock. I even went as far as to suggest we could lose to north and Brisbane if we didn’t take them seriously. I say that in a way that means please gods of footy don’t smote or smite or what ever those campaigners repeatedly do to us. I thought I was just de jinxing is. It’s like when you get nervous when the plane takes off you don’t expect the pilot to get drunk and run you into the DFO.

Just reread what I wrote.

I meant that given we are all expecting a smashing, when it happens it won't be a shock like last week and we will react like adults.

So a loss under 60 is a positive compared to what we expect.

Ah forget it...

Who you calling idiot you knucklehead?
:)

Tell you what, the get your halo on for round three popped up on FB feed today.

Being the idiot I am, I decided to read the comments.

FMD we are choir boys on here.

The FB comments are ridiculous.

Anyone else read through them and get convinced it’s a poster from here by what’s written, then look at their page to see what they look like?

Just me?

Didn’t see anyone on there telling Longer to play Runecraft and stick his knob in a blender though.

BigFooty wins the chocolates there.
Billy’s better off going home sticking his wang in a toaster, playing minecraft and drinking vb he belongs on the St Kilda esport team
We are better off running Gilbo thru the ruck. He’s the type of campaigner that it doesn’t matter if he gets ironed out/killed by a much larger opponent. He’s expendable. If he dies he dies.

I have moved on from outrage to a more holistic outlook. Rightly or wrongly the absence of Dempster, Montagna and Riewoldt has been hard felt this year and that has taken its toll, along with the changing game plan.

To use a development analogy, imagine you were teaching your child to ride a bike and so far he'd been going fine with the little stabilizer wheels. Eventually you decided that sink or swim, it was time to take those stabilisers off and teach him to ride it properly. Well, the first few times he crashed, scrape some skin off his knee, cried for her ages. You didn't panic and consider that maybe he was riding the wrong bike, or that you needed somebody else to teach him to ride, or that maybe he was just a useless kid who couldn't ride a bike. You just had to give him time to sort it out, instructing him along the way - what did he do wrong, try to do better next time. It's part of the process of learning.

We should also talk about the Kangaroos. Yes, they are even more of a basketcase than our club: that list isn't as good, the form until Easter wasn't as good, but actually they did win some games last year and there is promise there. Before the game, there were people suggesting that we would get thrashed in the clearances as that's their strength, but actually they have promise.p we still should have beaten them make no mistake but the fact that we didn't isn't the same as if we played Box Hill hawks and lost

Everyone also talks about the 4th quarter and how we capitulated pathetically and embarrassingly and again this is where the presence of old heads is paramount because kids don't think like that kids play video games and if they lose their lives too early they go back to the start and reset they they just except that they lost this time and wait for the next time I think at that stage of the game they had accepted it wasn't their day to use a development analogy imagine you a teaching your child to ride a bike so far hitting going fine with a little stabilizer wheels and eventually you decided that single swim it was time to take those stabilizers off and teaching to ride a probably well the first few times he crashed straight some skin off his knee try for ages which you didn't panic and consider that maybe he was riding the wrong bike or that you needed somebody else to teach him to ride other maybe he wishes to use this kid who couldn't write a bike just had to give him time to sort it out instructor him along the way what did he do wrong try to do a better next time and it's part of the process of learning new paragraph we should also talked about the kangaroos yes they are even more of a basket case then our club the listed as good the form until easter wasn't as good but actually they did win some games last year and there is promise there before the game there were people suggesting that we would get dressed in the clearances and that's their 10 only strength but actually they have promise we still should have become the make no mistake but the fact that we didn't isn't the same as if we played box hill hawks and lost

everything i also talked about the fourth quarter and how weak a picture later pathetic lee and embarrassing lee and again this is where presence of all his house because kids today don't think that way they play video games and if they are losing their lives too early they accept their failure Scrubs the game and start again it could very well be that the Young Bloods in this team accepted that it wasn't their day put in 10% less effort and just got mauled by a hungry teen desperate to improve their tattered reputation hopefully now that we are the team with a tattered reputation our boys will recover some of that desperation and I Judy Le Hope I dearly hope that our leaders and coaches are impressing upon the rest of the team that it is super important that you finish again strongly even when you know you're going to lose because there's losses and there's losses as richo said and this wasn't just Losing Game this was losing your standing in the competition allowing the football World to ridicule you after so many steps in the right direction and that is seemingly what fans are most upset about the good news is that that's easy to fix the skills development structures personnel is a little bit trickier but if the Saints know how to do one thing it's to roll up the sleeves and get stuck in and to that end I expect to be much more satisfied even if we are still going to fall down and scrape some skin before we start doing wheelies and jumping off ramps.

Couldn't be arssed reading this but liked it for the effort

Worked for Collingwood .

All about development ,hence why Geelong & Hawthorn are still relevant they do it better.

Nothing's guaranteed, you just have to take the course of action which has the best chance of success. Collingwood might just have the wrong coach.

As for development, if we're bad at that then nothing we do will help us. That doesn't mean that playing the odds isn't the right strategy though.

Just my opinion the right development covers some shortfalls a coach has.

Unfortunately the saints have not invested in it for mine.

You only have go to a Sandringham game to see which I do regularly ..

Look at the standard the development coaches that Geelong , Hawthorn ,Richmond , Carlton , Melbourne
have working with players , all contributing to IP. as well

Go on the club websites and see the type they have .

Collingwood had some good ones , but Bucks won’t take any advice wants to run his own show.

Listen to guys like Ben Hart talk about it ...well known in footy circles hence the criticism.

Playfair was a good pick up but they needed more.

We need the Schofields of the world , coaching Subiaco last year of contract 2018 get him.

There are a lot out there we should be talking to them .

Eg Why have Melbourne improved tactically ....they got a guy called Craig Jennings not a big name.

Ask Goodwin about him ...

I wish I’d thought of that. I’m worse that the FB clowns I like BF where I can anonymously pot the players.

I can remember on SEN someone was saying the good clubs that spend on off field have 5 players to each coaching staff member. I think it was Geelong had that and ran right through their VFL team. They are getting really focused coaching even when they don’t play seniors.

It surprises me how many people don't mind posting the things they do under their real names and photographs.

I'm the same as you, anonymity all the way.

Arguably our biggest hindrance in development is the dysfunctional alignment with Sandy.

Until we have a reserves team on the same page nothing will change.

The reserve players MUST play and mirror the senior teams style and strategy.
