Similar players but IMO we can only play one of them.

Stack generally has appalling handling skills but occasionally does something that makes you think there is something there. I think his biggest problem is his temperement...he's quiet and introverted and it shows when the ball is there to be won.

Hill is abit of a tease. Keeps doing just enough to get a game but I wonder if we are ever going to see him become the player he could be.

At this stage Hill gets the nod because collectively the pair of them provide nil defensive pressure up forward.

Another Bulldogs supporter at the game brought this up yesterday. I don't actually think they're similiar players at all. In saying that I think Hill can play in the AFL and Stack...at least at the moment...can't.

Similar of that they are both playing floating foward roles.

Stack should be able to do it. I thought he was fantastic in the Sydney game and was alright at it against north, but the last two weeks I haven't seen it much.

Hill is a better player at this stage.

Stack's hands let him down. I'm not much of a fan of Hill (I think he has so much agility and skill and just doesn't present as often as he could/should).

I would like to see more of Stack but needs more development/confidence at this stage.

It does seem to be one of the other and if we need the same player who will score goals, it is Josh.

Definately Hill, can't stand stack! For what it's worth this would be my fwd line this week
HF: Murphy Grant Harbrow
F: Rose Hall Hill

elevate Rose for Cordy, we need a small crumber and as good as Harbrow has been down back I think he could be as damaging as Rioli off HF.

Stack just seems intimidated by the physical part of the game. That's probably a nice was of saying he's scared but I think it's more of a reflection that it's not a natural part of his temperament.

Everything about Harbrow suggets he should be a great crumbing forward but he didn't show any of it in his early days, and is actually quite a poor kick for goal. He appears to be better suited to being able to run out of defence than having to do u-turns in the forwardline.

We desperately need someone to get around Barry's feet though. The fact is he is never outmarked and it astounds me that none of our small forwards position themselves for the crumbs Barry creates.

That is probably correct.

From reports he is quite a shy and reserved guy who probably doesn't feel comfortable with the physical part of the game just yet.

It is good that he has been able to play a few games (against good opposition) in a row, but it's time he goes back to work on a few of his weaknesses.

I guess we with so many forwards out both Stack & Hill (and Grant) have been forced to play key roles in the team which hopefully is good for their development.

I thought Stack was so soft i felt embarrassed yesterday....now Hill is not exactly the poster boy of a tough footballer but he is a much better player than Stack. I could see Stack being held kickless in a final against stk or geel (if we get there!)

Summed up well.
Hill doesn't fumble, and is brilliant overhead, but can go quiet during games.
Stack fumbles and plays more of a ground ball role, intensity is an issue.

Stack was appalling and ALWAYS seems to fumble.
He also failed to put his body on the line on MULTIPLE occasions.
Hill is not much better physically, but he at least handles the ball cleanly.

Hill is contributing 2 goals a game and probably an assist and has been deadly accurate after a NAB cup full of yips.

kicked 16.3 in 8 games.

Can we afford to give up that goal kicking ability and if we do, who can come in to replace it?

Is it just me or do you hardly ever see Hill marking on the lead? he seems to be always lurking for a hanger, or taking a chestmark 30m on his own.

Johnson mentioned this on radio before the game that he needs to lead up to the ball more instead of running back so much. Grant and Hall were the only ones mentioned to be consistently leading up to the ball which is concerning. It goes to show how much we've missed Johnson and Murphy.

wow rose has a following in these forums !
He would want to be dominating cause he is being made out to someone I am yet to see in the last 3 years.... not a massive crumbing forward. Gets alot of goal one out or on a lead.

We have one of the best crumbers to play the game in the last 10 years on our list... No point having them in your team unless you keep them at home. When our forwards are playing so high at the moment there is not anyone at the feet of our forwards... structure is wrong atm not the personal !

Good point, also you will notice that Gia, Hahn Stack & Higgins would lead at left & right angles rather than in a straight line, this is due to a lack of confidence. If you lead down the corridor and drop the mark, there is a fair chance the opposition will make you pay.
Its easier to take a mark on a flank when a defender will generally concede that to a forward. If there is an opening down the guts, thats where you lead to, which we are currently not doing, Hall excluded.
