Stanley comfortably won the ruck after the oppo ruckman went down. This is weird scapegoating.

What did we learn about Stanley today that we didn’t already know? Not much. The bigger man got a hold of him, which is pretty common. Then he beat two part timers very convincingly. He had a few clangers and he took a few important marks.

We know Stanley isn’t going to beat most first line ruckmen, especially bigger units. We know he will dine out on part timers. We didn’t learn anything today we didn’t already know.

Why are people complaining.... unfortunately we don't have any other option as we recruited a 31 plus year old Ceglar who has never played a full season cos of injury...

Stanley unfortunately has no other competition, as Esava only a below average ruck..
Have to unfortunately bite our tongue for a couple years until Tasp and Toby Conaway develops..
But we should be rebuilding our whole team, but they leaders of this club doesn't believe in it sadly

Actually think Stanley usually plays best against the best and throws in stinkers against nobodies. Today he just got the job done against nobodies. It was a non event in the scheme of things.

We basically have no other options. So we are stuck with him. Have to pray conway comes on quick. But he’s had a hip injury i think.

Yep.. very frustrating

His clangers were terrible. He barely broke evenmatchups he should have smashed in.

He was up against a player 196cm tall and 93 kg and he had 7 hitouts & 3 disposals in that final quarter. That is an appalling display against absolute nobodies in the ruck.
A the very least, he should have been presenting and clunking some marks given his height advantage against everyone else on the football field today.

He's such a frustrating player. In this woke day and age, I don't even think you can use that Tarzan & Jane reference anymore but it's so true of Stanley.

What a dumb game as a ruckman.
Let’s have the advantage against your opponent and choose to punch the ball out of the ruck.
He’s a theory Rhys, palm it into a attacking position.
Rather than a random punch that can literally go either way.
Mitchell dominated when Reeves went off.

I watched the Hawks mids at center bounces and a number of times there Mitchell and co were pre-emptively running off defensive side of the stoppage while the ball was still in the air from the bounce, in anticipation of Stanley smacking it forward aimlessly. The Geelong mids didn't do likewise so it left the Hawks able to shark it easily because they had numbers around the pill even though Rhys had knocked it in the general direction of our goal. Pretty dumb center bounce set-up.

Stanley won the hitouts but it didn't translate into much of a midfield advantage. Not entirely his fault on that part of course.

How funny that big footy nuffies like myself and you could see it. Yet our mids/coaching staff couldn’t

Stanley seems like the kinda guy that plays a half ok game and then completely takes his foot off the gas.
Almost never puts two "acceptable" games in a row together.
It's really no surprise we took Conway with our 1st draft pick, we have had the worse ruck setup in the AFL for 10 years.

As soon as reeves went off the commentators said stanley has a huge advantage now. First centre bounce and he punches it straight to a hawk for a clearance. Such a stanley thing to do. Can’t place the ball to advantage to save himself.

Well yes he isn't a good no 1 ruck, no shit.

Bagging him out after a loss has become boring to be honest. He is a limited player but our best choice. He isn't atrocious, just limited.

Honestly think he'd be an excellent 2nd ruck if we had a good proper first ruck, but well we've been needing that for years now
