Why because it is the colours of the aboriginal flag? I understand that - I just dont think we had to include yellow as a part of our jumper colours. For that matter I was never a fan a including purple in the Maddie fundraiser matches - I guess Im a traditionalist when it comes to the jumper. Surely I can say I dont like going away from the traditional club colours without the 'woke' commentary.
Well I can't believe we haven't done it earlier for the IR

Guernsey looks rad

It's a beauty. I love the blending of culturally significant aspects of St Kilda. A bit of history there, too...

I didn’t realise so many saints fans didn’t know about yellow cropping up in our colours every now and then. Didn’t we have a heritage jumper with yellow (somewhat) recently too?

It was a harmless joke cause the jumper looks awesome and saying it doesn’t is a bad take.

Jesus some people need to lighten up.

Lol at the non yellowers
I know.

It is a traditional St Kilda colour after all 😉

Maybe research the clubs history during WW1 and you'll discover why there is yellow in it.

Woke...I would die happily if I never hear that word again.

I lived and worked on remote aboriginal communities in the top end for decades. If I thought an AFL club wearing a red, yellow & black jumper would change their current social issues, poverty, health issues and other problems they face I would wear a jumper each day. Reconcilliation will take a lot more than what the average Australian is prepared for, so I suggest you do your research and attempt to understand what change for our indigenous really looks like.

By the way we changed colours because of the Nazi colours and the Belgum flag. Does that mean we shouldnt have worn red, white and black following the war? Oh and what colour has the German flag been since 1949 - does that affect our clubs decision? How many players have we had with Germanic heritage, I would suggest a lot eg Riewoldt, Dietrich, Fehring, Gehrig. Does that mean I dont support indigineous issues and reconciliation I do. Do I think the club wearing yellow instead of white will cause change - absolutely not.

Love the black cuffs too!

Obviously changing the white to yellow won't improve any societal issues, but the jumpers aren't really supposed to do that. If indigenous footy fans like the look of it, that's really all you can hope for.

At the end of the day, we've used yellow in our club colours previously, and red yellow and black does match with the indigenous flag so it's a little bit extra alignment, it's quite a fresh yet traditional look that a lot of Saints fans will love.

It comes down to taste; some people would never deviate from the traditional home strip if it were up to them, others are happy to experiment and push the envelope.

Personally, I would have liked to use white as a highlight colour on top of the yellow, but maybe that's something to explore for another year. I have often wondered with past designs why we didn't throw some yellow in the design too, or the design looked a bit strange with white, so I'm happy to see them try this now.

My only concern is using yellow in round 11 where we play against a team with a predominantly yellow strip might reduce the differentiation, but its the Harley Reid Hawks so I'm sure we'll still scrape through.

I wonder if we'll ever go down the road of changing our name temporarily like Melbourne and now Port Adelaide have done. What would our equivalent be?

BTW I agree with you SteeleSaints about real reconciliation being undesirable for most of white Australia, it's such a difficult thing to reconcile. Maybe the country is edging closer to some kind of fairness, celebration rather than vilification is definitely a step in the right direction even if it's shallow and not everyone is in lockstep with it, society's leaders have a duty to drive the country somewhere and it is a lot better than where they were driving Australia in the 1950s.

Gawd
Did we ever win in the pura yellow??
2/10 that jumper

Where as all the more darker yellow ones look freaking awesome
That 05 one gtrain has on is mint
Crest above the sponsor too
I love the look of the red yellow black

I like the Pura one better. The darker yellow looks too Crows.

Calm down Kramer, I like the indigenous jumper, it works with the indigenous theme of ochre colours and I love the symmetry but it is very crowish. You might have been indoctrinated by the cult over there Poppers and not see it any more. I much prefer red, white and black but if you go off that I don't mind going way outside of it. The yellow eye-burning Pura was classic. I'd like an all-black with crest as a way to sell a merchandise. I reckon people would love it.

I love the recognition of Indigenous Round, but this years jumper design is horrible. The yellow stripe is terrible...

What is up with the yellow? We are not Richmond. I find it confusing. The rest is ok although I prefer some of previous years.

Yeah, settle down anti-yellows

It is not our new jumper
It is not our away jumper
It is not our clash jumper
It is not our heritage jumper

It is our indigenous round jumper

The indigenous flag is red, black & yellow.
The Saints jumper has been red, black & yellow at times throughout the club’s history.

If we can combine these elements then why not?

It’s not like they want us to play in Geelong’s colours. Or, god forbid, Hawthorn’s colours.

Or even worse, asking us to put an Essendon square on our BF profile 😱

Lol at the non yellowers
