i acknowledge that this statement assumes a few big IFs, namely:

- if Bradshaw does not retire
- if Fevola knuckles down and plays good footy
- if Vossy can find a way to make all three power forwards gel and not get in each others' way

...but is it possible that this is the strongest AFL forward line ever assembled?
Sherman Brown Polks
Adcock Fevola Bradshaw

I think you have Adcock at the wrong end of the ground

yeah fair point, i was trying to think of our best goal-kicking midfielder who can apply defensive pressure and I chose him over Buchanan (who i see as a rotating midfielder)

we'll need a ground-level warrior with a big engine to compensate for the top heavy 3 power forwards and he fit the bill but i'd take other suggestions ;)

That forward line will look average quickly if we don't win more clearances.

I would DEFINITELY have Adcock up forward next season. He might be able to play a similar role to P.Chapman, in being a small forward who can kick goals by crumbing inside 50m but also push up the ground to get the ball. Adcock can kick a goal from long distance (a great kick when kicking through the ball) and he is great on the snap-shots as well. He will let nothing get in his way and will go as hard at it as possible to get the ball and chase down opponents.

DO IT VOSSY! :thumbsu:

If Bradshaw plays on and we have him in the forward line with Brown and Fevola, then I imagine Fevola and Bradshaw will play exclusively inside 50m with Brown spending pretty much all of his time playing up the ground. I think this could work, but it will depend on a number of things - perhaps most importantly whether or not Brown's body can handle having to run extra kilometers every week in going up and down the wings.

I like that if things are going against us then Braddy can go back and we still have Brown and Fevola forward. And if they get worse and Brown has to move into the centre for a while with Braddy down back, then we still have Fevola forward in an open paddock. And Fev can roam a bit as well!

I cant believe how some of you brissie fans are upset about the Fevola trade. You guys made a semi-final this year, and should be aiming for a prelim or better next year. You are entering your premiership window, and with Fevola alongside brown and Bradshaw opposition teams won't have enough quality defenders. Opposition teams will be forced to instruct their midfielders to flood back to help out, meaning they will have less energy to work back the other way to attack.

Fevola is a proven match winner who has come into your team at just the right time. Pick 12 and Henderson are nothing more than potential. If 1 of them turns out to be as good as fev you will be extremely unlucky. Chances are both will be serviceable, but their development is a long way behind the overall development of your squad.

Voss has done the right thing for your club in order to win a premiership. You can't always plan for the future, sometimes you have to plan for the here and now. Strike while the irons hot.

Interesting theory. :thumbsu:

I wonder if opposition teams will load up their back-lines initially with more defenders and simply play an outright, continual flood against us? If so, we might be able to get more numbers around the ball in the midfield and get more take-aways from the clearances.

AGREED. Best of all time. To all you whingers saying nonononononononononono etc etc to the Fev. You'll be eating your words soon. When your cheering "GO FEV."

Yep!

The indignant "supporters" threatening to tear up their memberships...etc etc....blah blah, will be the first ones hopping back on board when Fev kicks his first bag to win a game for us.:thumbsu:

I would actually like to see Power play more of a forward role as opposed to Adcock. He's a great kick for goal and started his career up forward. As he enters the twilight of his career I'd much prefer him up forward than playing off the halfback line where he gets a little lost defensively. We need Adcock's hardness up the ground.

Ungrateful Bastards!!

Even ignoring Bradshaw, Fevola and Brown is by far the league's most dominant forward duo (in terms of individual brilliance - how well they'll play together remains to be seen). As good a duo as I can remember.

Enjoy it guys and gals - it might quite possibly yield you a premiership or two in the next 4 years.

ALL 3 played pretty well for Victoria last year:thumbsu: So incredibly happy about this!
