I'd say it won't be announced tonight now.
Would be nice if there was just an announcement of an announcement.
It is fair. Over rates are a joke and should be cracked down on. Test cricket is almost twice as slow as local cricket of getting through the overs.
Understand it will be slower, but it shouldn't be that much slower.
Given the MCC demanded an extension to their deal as a result of the AFL GF being moved, I presume they will be happy next year to have two tests in Sydney including Boxing day?

They've already got thier year extension for the GF and got an extension for Boxing day.

Great batsmen play the ball late. Cricket Australia has taken that to ridiculous levels, waiting until 9pm to make a call on the third Test against India, which starts on January 7.
Broadcasters had trucks idling outside the MCG late last night unsure whether they had to pack their equipment and drive north to Sydney or leave it in place for another game at the MCG.

Cricket Australia held a board meeting into the afternoon after its executive took one final check of the temperature. The complications were immense. The Queensland government held the game to ransom, having pulled the rug out from under the Indian series a month ago. The move to Sydney from Melbourne depended on whether the caravan could continue to Brisbane.
The Indian board, two broadcasters, two radio stations, two stadia, two pitches and two teams were involved in a situation as complex as anything the game has ever faced.
The MCG has been preparing a pitch next to the one where India bounced back and drew level in the series on Tuesday. That had a knock-on effect to planned BBL matches, broadcasters had to consider whether its staff would be trapped in quarantines and unable to proceed.
The anxieties of 2020 refuse to subside.
“We had a full court press from the NSW government, the SCG, the media, everybody on the same team all pushing for the Test,” Venues NSW chairman Tony Shepherd told the Australian on Tuesday night.

Reports are stricter quarantine for players but Queensland has granted special dispensation for support staff and broadcasters to enter Queensland.
Fourth test will be in Brisbane.
India's series win last time was an asterisk due to both Warner and Smith missing and this time due to the fixtures if we don't get the Brisbane Test and play at the SCG twice (smell like BCCI action after the lowest India score ever, hell why not wait until a month later and Kohli can return to the 4th Test at the SCG as well)

Will be interesting to watch, a lot can happen in two weeks. QLD giving help to the NSW government is surprising.
That's provided the COVID-19 situation doesn't change in NSW, if it does they will be forced to play the 4th Test without crowds. Not sure why they don't play the Brisbane Test first and this will give the option to play at other venue if the NSW COVID-19 situation gets worst in 2 weeks but India and BCCI are both very happy.

Players have to hotel quarantine before the Brisbane Test
^ If COVID keeps spreading Brisbane may not be able to hold the 4th test meaning, Brisbane would miss out doing nothing wrong and Sydney get rewarded with two tests for having the virus
If cases get out of hand again they have already decided where it will be and have no where to back to if it goes pear shaped
