big mid at pick 5.Trade Recap with Craig Cameron
GM of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron answers some burning questions from our fans following the AFL Trade Periodwww.goldcoastfc.com.au
Despite this, Cameron said there was a scenario in which Bowes could’ve stayed at the club on a reduced salary.
“Yes there was (a chance for Bowes to stay). Having said that, Jack also wanted to play as an inside mid and felt frustrated that he didn’t get enough time in the midfield with us,” Cameron explained.
“I think he also recognised that was going to be difficult in the future. To get a player to take a position where they’re willing to reduce their salary to remain, they’ve got to be comfortable they’re going to play to the level and in the position they want to play going forward.
“We’ve seen that with a number of players in the past and we’ll probably see it again quite shortly. In Jack’s case, he was keen to try and find a midfield spot for himself and he felt his best option was somewhere else.”
He is talking about players extending contracts, reducing average salary but adding years.Who's next?

I think you're correct. Could be a player with one year to go? Fiorini, Sexton? He is talking about players extending contracts, reducing average salary but adding years.
The ones that are more willing to do that are those who are playing well in the ones and happy with where they are playing.

If Rory is anything like me (and who's to say we've ever been in the same room together?) money isn't the biggest deal if he's happy and part of the team with his boys.Yeah agree someone like sexton could be worth extending. There was talk that we were trying to retire Thompson and a pay out would need to be agreed on, maybe he is happy to play on for less.
Rory bought one of my fishing rods last year. Never thought I'd sell Rory Thompson my 7ft rod.If Rory is anything like me (and who's to say we've ever been in the same room together?) money isn't the biggest deal if he's happy and part of the team with his boys.
Is this code for sex?Rory bought one of my fishing rods last year. Never thought I'd sell Rory Thompson my 7ft rod.
I thought so but the big fella swatted me away. Turns out he just wanted a new fishing rod smh. True story though. Is this code for sex?
Interesting they’re building a big suns themed one in Mackay as well. One year on: Kool Beanz SUNS nearing completion

THE Brisbane Roar and Gold Coast Suns are at loggerheads over claims the A-League side is pulling out of a deal to build a new base at Carrara.
Tony Cochrane, chairman of the Suns AFL club, said the deal to relocate the Brisbane team’s training and operations to the Gold Coast has fallen through and has left his club nearly $60,000 out of pocket in “outstanding rent”.
A furious Mr Cochrane is now demanding the A-League franchise pay back “every single cent”.
“They have completely let us down and it is really poor form,” he said.
“We recognised from day one their proposal was a load of rubbish but we reluctantly went along with it and now we have been left high and dry with a bill for $60,000 and we are not happy to say the least – and that’s me being polite.
“The truth is, we were used and abused … I don’t think they ever intended to shift their whole thing down here.”
So why did they go along with it?Gold Coast Suns chairman Tony Cochrane blasts Brisbane Roar over claims of unpaid rent
So why did they go along with it?
Yeah from what I’ve heard is the GCCC didn’t give them much of a choice in the matterMaybe the real question is who put the pressure on for them to go along with it.
Might be the AFL, GC council, state government or D, all of the above.
