Its a risk to get buddy as he is out for round 1.

Where's the risk??? He is goin to kill it so pretty stupid if u dont take him...play a bench player for a week..buddy should average 100, it should be a difference of 50 points max for one week...it wont cost u the overall!!!!

Sweet, any other players you can guarantee to have massive years for me?

What about Jesse Smith (StK) as a cheapy???

$220k certainly fills the cheap criteria!

Not this season. Wouldnt expect to see him at least until 2nd half season. Has only recently started running again. Might be a good downgrade in the run home if he gets game but definantly not from the start.

On my radar for sure at that price. Will be watching preseason games closely to get a better idea of what his role in the side will be.

Carrazzo because of our midfield depth will be the utility player. He'll play every position a guy his size could possibly play all around the ground.

Stats should be somewhere around where they were last year but a small drop may be inevitable -- someone has to lose some stats from the midfield, right?

He could be a goal sneak this year. His disposal was woeful a couple of years ago but with him being one of the hardest working players in the league he's improved it to the point where I thought he had a few freakish goals last year (had a couple in Fremantle, I believe, at least one, that was simply sensation).

Ziebell and Dangerfield are locks for me in the forward line considering theres a genuine lack of $200,000 + forwards like last year in Krakeour, Skipworth and Higgins. ;)

Id have to agree with you there , have them both in my forward line at the moment. Finding it tough to find any players below that kind of price range that im happy with. Mayne and Polkinghorne possibly but im not very confident in either of these guys at their current prices. Would rather take my chance on a rookie and spend the money somewhere else.

Thanks for the info Ytoojae. I was thinking along similar lines that he would be used to fill gaps where needed. Playing as a goal sneak could be a worry though, not too many cheap possessions there for fantasy footy.

Thx... :thumbsu:

Back to the drawing board...

Have slotted in Tom Collier (BRL) as an alternative at this stage. $216k and looks to have a bit of upside. there is a real dirth of talent/potential in that low to mid price defenders isn't there?

Not sold on Collier. He's one of those players who looks like he's doing much more than he actually is. With Patful, Merrett and Drummond up and running he doesn't really seem to slot in to the Lions best 22 and let's face it, Dr. Voss isn't interested in developing the kids in 2010.

What about Tommy Walsh (IRE) at St Kilda? I know he's going to have a nightmare getting into that team, but reports are that he's practically worked out how play already and might play a few NAB cup games. I know Irishmen are usually slow starters in fantasy terms, but perhaps Walsh could buck the trend.

I am agreeing with some of the other comments about M Williams at the Bombers. The guy is a great shot for goal and if he marks inside 50 it usually ends up in a Goal. At 300k he is cheap and will be a focal point for the Bombers and can easily average 2.5 goals a game for the year.

His only downside is Injury concerns and staying fit but by all reports from the Bomber board he is doing well. Not many better options IMO with 300k to spend.

Burton is the only other player i would contemplate and is 268k but is getting older and struggling to put more than 5 games together.

Still have both in mind though and Williams V's Burton is a good debate and both have Upsides and massive downsides!! Interesting to see how others feel about these 2 cheap forwards who have scoring ability. I would think both will rise in $$$ quickly come Rd 4 if they are hitting the scoring sheet.

Wouldn't touch him unless he sets the NAB Cup afire. His competition for spots includes Drummond, Adcock, McGrath, Hawskley and Raines as a running defender (what he seems most suited to) and Merrett, Patfull Maguire and Cornelius as a KPD (which he doesn't seem suited to).

I'm going to go right out on a limb here....

Henry Playfair.

$107k.

I straining the house down. Looks to be in awesome form by all accounts and is one of Roosy's favourites. Has cash cow written all over him.

Is this a joke? I'm not sure :p:eek:

Is he really that likely to get games this year, because let's face it he is pretty spud like.

Actually... no. He could be a very handy pick up and let's be honest, he's a lot less of risk than Gumbleton (Which so many here are keen on). Keep an eye on him in the NAB cup. Could be a bolter. At the very least i reckon he'll get a regular game and get up to $280-300k +

Will be interesting to see how he goes in the NAB Cup but wouldnt expect to see a great deal off him this season unless we get hit down by injuries. Tom Lynch is more likely to be playing a fair chunk season. So would probably look at him rather than Walsh (unless he comes out and dominates which I hope he does). Lynch is a big boy and can kick a bag of goals which he did down VFL last season. Very talented young player
