Swan said he would SACK Fevola in 2008 if Fevola caused further problems

Only person he has really hurt is himself and to a lesser extent his wife and kids.

Thats the worst part of it and the one he should feel guilt. Everything else is just media bleeding hearts trying to tell us the rights and wrongs of the world which they have no qualification to do

Fev = Knob ....jeez the tankers would struggle if they sacked him though, the Doggies would be the first in line to pick him up and rightly so, considering the western suburbs has a history of great drunkards :)

New contract since that Swann quote and that doesn't contain the instant dismissal clause, according to Greg Denham:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23893605-23211,00.html

The Blues were keen to add a clause that they could instantly dismiss Fevola over a further alcohol-related misdemeanour after an off-field incident this year which led to their star forward being put on a final warning at Princes Park.

However, after taking legal advice, Carlton will re-sign Fevola on the normal standard-player contract, with an added sweetener of a bonus payment, understood to be up to $100,000, at the end of the deal for consistent good behaviour.

However:

Carlton insist Fevola remains on his final strike, and any off-field trouble can still lead to dismissal.

In the collective bargaining agreement between the AFL and the players' association, Carlton believe they still have the power to sack Fevola under the default and termination clauses.

Under article 17 (d) the Blues could terminate him if he "engages in serious or wilful misconduct", which was amended in the new agreement for the start of 2007.

The players' union believes this clause relates to more serious off-field conduct, including a criminal offence.

The hundreds of bloody idiots getting pissed every weekend aren't pulling $500k+ a year to play football AND as the AFLPA is always so keen to stress in collective bargaining negotiations, act as role models in the broader community.

In any case, the complete ruination of his post media career is probably punishment enough in this instance.

So the Dogs have to sack Aker as he was drunk as well ???

We all know Fev isn't a good role model, even the Carlton supporters know he's a knob.... Unfortunately, he's a talented footballing knob, so he's set for a little while..... When he stops playing it'll be a short, downhill spiral....

Really, this is mountain out of a molehill stuff.... If he'd hurt someone by knocking the drink out of Cooney's hand, fair enough... But just for being loud and obnoxious..... Come on..... There are bigger issues this week to worry about...

The fourth bloke in this ad might have a bit of an issue considering Fevola's behaviour goes against evrything this ad is trying to make a stand against.

Sentiment is changing. You have the old school being challenged by the new. In the past Fev has always had the "numbers" to stay. However, the big question is - Is this still the case? A few arguments are starting to surface

a/ Can they take the risk C9 go fully un-edited without a prior statement.
b/ If Yes! What are the implications. If No! What are the implications
c/ Are our present tactics working?

Some are now saying - If we dont act now the rumors are going to get bigger than the facts. Then if we get a "Please Explain" What are the implications?

"What does Fev have to do to be "really" disciplined"

"What happens if he does it? Where are we then?" We being Carlton

You can only turn a blind eye so many times until you become an accessory to the facts.

Nothing in it, so he is enjoying himself FFS who cares its out of season. Not like he assaulted, r*ped anyone or crapped in a hotel like NRL players.

Rolled eyes?? Surely not!! BURN HIM!!!

3 pages in and closest anyone's come to identifying a problem is 'Juddy might be angry with him'. FFS

Jezz you got us there.

Why he was sacked from FS Grand Final edition because nobody could "identify a problem". Why Greg Swan had a "chat" to him because nobody could "identify a problem" Why some of the wives who attended where genuinely scared to go near him because they were unsure of his actions because nobody could "identify a problem".

Sadly many wont "identify a problem" because they dont wont to or choose not to see its a problem in the first place

Question is why wont anyone identify his problem - answer because he's a footy player!

He has lost his spot on TFS grand final show as a result and may even lose his spot on TFS all together. The more he plays up the less likely he is to have any sort of career in the media post AFL. Every time he plays up he becomes less marketable as more people put him in the dick head category.

Unless of course the career included replacing Sam Newman on TFS.

This thread is a major fail. It should be put out of its misery.

The failure is Fevola , not the thread .

The failure will be Swan and the Carlton FC if Fevola isnt sacked from the AFL , not the thread .

I am only reporting what Swan said would happen to Fevola if he did this type of behaviour again .

See my post at #28 - that quote from Swann related to his previous contract, he has since signed a new one.

Nobody is saying its model behaviour, but who the hell cares!? He's a footy player at the brownlow for god's sake, and I'm sure you're aware of his past form

He was booted from the footy show coz of innapropriate language/behaviour while filming street talk. Swann is talking to him coz its now a media circus. Have you got a link where a WAG was quoted as saying she was scared to go near him (although that last part is completely believable btw)

How does any of that add up to problems for Fev and the footy club, other than with the moral crusaders who are always drawn to this type of thing like moths to the flame.

If it was during the season - sure. If he assaulted/hurt anyone - sure. The worst I can see is he offended a few people. Wow, that sure is a massive problem completely deserving of the response it is currently recieving

I agree lets all push it under the carpet again, and again & again.

First you have CFC & its supporters, then you have CH9 next you want a website to push it under the carpet!

Lets all push it under the carpet till we cant push no more.

The threat was drunk related incident...

so he got drunk... now explain to me where the "incident" is?

was it knocking beer out of the hand of Coon dog... who himself was "drunk"...

was it that people were rolling their eyes?

was it that he didn't do his "non-footy" related work properly?

what is this sackable incident?...
