Re: Bucannon traded to brisbane

Disagree:)

I see Seaby as merely adding height to a smallish squad and potential bit forward backup!

Also, potentially super Ruck duo.

(OP ....sorry to derail Buchy thread but he has his own already anyway)

Not sure any ruck duo including Seaby could be described as "great"

The only reason I am not tearing my hair out re the Jolly move is that I've had the pleasure of watching young Currie in the magoos - between injuries. His tap work has the makings of something pretty good, and around the ground he's not too dissimilar to Jolly. I reckon he's got stickier hands, but his kicking for goal is a little less reliable.

Fingers crossed that he has a change of luck with injuries, starting this year.

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

amon, will absolutely relish playing in another side

at sydney his career has become stagnant

the overall reported trade is ok..... but we're getting the raw end of the deal, if we have to downgrade our 2nd rounder.... for a dud in seaby in exchange for our dud in amon

but best of luck to him :)

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

I can't believe this.

I'm speechless. I'm going to have to bleach my "Amon the Cannon" banner now and paint another sign. :( Arghhhh..

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

Yeah I am upset about this purely cause amon is one of my favourite players but I guess it was that time. Will be an interesting trade week for the swans me thinks...

Can we stop mentioning Dawes, he is not what we need. Ben Reid would be a better fit for us .
Jolly's missus is the problem, she has cost us a flag and now this, what a --------.

it's dissapointing jolly is leaving

but you don't know the circumstances, and you can't don't whether jolly's missus really is the problem

they both have family in melbourne, and they have two daughters to think about.... seems more like a joint decision

but nonetheless, i think it's a tad unfair for the wife to cop some flak

He told Roos last week that he was staying and she cracked the shits and as i said she cost us another flag. Apparently Roos is not impressed at all with him being so weak. Hope he goes to the dawks and we get 9 and Kennedy

source?

rumours of him meeting Melbourne clubs have been going around for a few weeks now

and it's been reported that he told roos he wanted to go back to melbourne a while back

also he engaged a Melbourne based player agent about a month back

provided, the things above could be just rubbish.... but it doesn't seem as this was an out of the blue case for the club

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

I have mixed feelings about this - I like it because I think Buchanan wouldn't have played another game in the red and white anyways and Seaby can add a new ruck/forward alternative.

The negative is that it seems to indicate that Jolly is definitely going south. They would have known that Jolly wanted out a while ago, which is why they made it clear they were interested in Seaby.

Trade "week" obviously started quite a long time ago for a number of the clubs.

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

I will hold off the celebration dances until I know for a fact that we keep pick 22...

If we do and its Seaby for Buchanan...

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON

We don't keep it, we get Pick 28 instead.

And come on, whilst Seaby is a 'dud', Monty would not be in our Best 22. All things being equal - that is, assuming Pyke would be our back up ruckman Round 1 - Seaby would be, because Seaby's better than Pyke.

Therefore we're downgrading our 2nd round pick by 6 places to get a Best 22 player in essence, and all we're giving away is a depth player.

Re: Buchanan traded to brisbane

Why not a straight swap. Both are a premiership players, of a similar age, both of whom struggle to break into their club's best 22. If we gave up pick 22 I won't be impressed

Probably because West Coast don't need that type of player and Brisbane feel that they do. That seems fairly obvious.

I would have thought there is a reasonable difference in value between the two.

But more to the point, I reckon Brisbane deserve a 3rd round back as part of that package, whether it is WC's or ours. If we give you 22 instead of 28, you'd think it would have to be yours.

Your trade is completely fair, Gunnar obviously isn't happy unless the Eagles are completely boning the other two clubs. How anyone can think Buchanan and pick 38 for Seaby (essentially) isn't fair but getting pick 22 and Dalziell for two average players is, is beyond me.

Jolly will go south if we get a high round 1. Otherwise he stays, or takes the chances in the national draft and could end up in Perth  etc..

they didn't know until last week he wanted out, as he had told them earlier he was committed (besides contract which means nothing these days) and then his wife wanted to go home, so he had to tell the club.

They envisioned him and Seaby 1+2 ruck combo, and expected to lose him eventually, and by then Currie would be in full swing.

QFT.

we won big time. Good luck to Monty, things just stopped in the past 1-2 years for him with us.

dont worry we hold all the cards I believe Jolly is contracted for 2 more years?, so there is no chance of that happening, we either get some high picks and/or quality young players or he stays

Yeah two years into a four year. All those outcomes look good to me.
