i think 14+barlow/moore would get it done

that is if sydney are interested

You may well be right there. Carlton are gonna be desperate to give him away if what we hear is correct. I still dont want him of course but i think 14 plus Barlow (who they have been rumoured to want not just this year but also '07 or '08, cant remember which it was) may be enough.

Please Roosy dont listen to your poster in crime in MalFan. Just leave Melbourne right now.

Stay right where you are Roosy. You leave Melbourne when you have the big Fev in tow (and a few six-packs to keep him from drying out during the long flight). Just don't let him near the PA system if he's had a few.

NO

ffs nooooooooooooooo

A lot of fuss is being made over keeping high draft picks but given our record over last 10 years we've picked many of our best players with our lower picks.

eg,

Kirk - Rookie pick
Goodes - 43
ROK - 56
MOL - 40
Leo Barry - 46

Even Darren Jolly was a rookie draft for the Demons. How much better he's done than no.1 draft pick Josh Fraser.

For the Swans only McVeigh has really impressed as an early draft pick though Vez has shown potential. Fosdike was another early pick from whom we got good (though not spectacular) value.

Traditionally we've done much better by trading our high picks for proven talent. Maybe we ought to grab Fev for pick 6....

Wanna hear my theory on this phenomenon?

I'll tell you all anyway!:D

The players that get picked up with these later picks have had to work much harder then some of these top 10 or so picks.
Hard work makes for a very consistent player. This is why Geelong have such great players & players that are very loyal too. Many have refused trades over the last few years where they could well have earned many more dollars!

Compare Carlton to Geelong & you can see that the top picks that have been told how good they are at footy since birth, (apart from the odd one) generally take it a little easy in those early days.
The later picks have to keep battling just to keep a career alive in the game.
Kirk, Chapman, O'Keefe, etc, etc.............

Now that we have Kennedy, McGlynn & Mumford on board, they will give their absolute ALL to a club that has told them that they have a role to play at our wonderful club. We now have 3 new players that WANT to be here as opposed to one that has probably had his heart at Collingwood for the second half of 2009!!......$$$$$$$$$$$$

Go the new Bloods!!:thumbsu:

There's some substance in your theory. For the Swans there's also the risk that a high draft pick will up sticks back to mummy in melbourne, less likely with a senior player (OK, Jolly's missus aside). An example was Swans 1994 No.3 pick Shannon Grant.

There's certainly an argument for top picks traded for top (established) players if salary cap is not an issue. Statistically there's about a 70% chance that a round 3 pick will turn out as good as a round 1.

(OK, I made that up but it seems about right)

Not sure if this has been posted, but....

Sydney yesterday attempted to get its hands on Richmond's pick No. 3 - and midfielder Dustin Martin - by offering its first two choices in the upcoming draft, numbers six and 14, to the Tigers. The idea was swiftly knocked back by Richmond, which is believed to be keen on the Bendigo onballer.

TRADE WEEK: Sydney could be very active in next few hours. Two first round picks. Will one be traded for a big fish!

Take it with a grain of salt, considering he insists we were interested in Fevola right to the end.
