G'day all. My name is Yvonne, nicked named Bonnie by my sisters. I live in Sydney and I'm currently 15 years old (16 in June).

I joined the Swans bandwagon midway through 2006 because my sister was always watching it. I use to think that football was just a bunch of sweaty men running around the field aimlessly, but I soon changed my perspective. My favourite player is Darren Jolly and only really went for him because of his last name, but now I like him as a player although most people don't like him (as I've heard). I went to my first AFL game in late August 2006 with my sister and it was against the Lions. Since then, I have watched every Swans match and been to 6/11 Home Games last year.

I don't usually last on forums, but lets hope that this is different. I look forward to meeting all of you guys :D
BTW, my sister mentioned there is is2SWaNz.

darren jolly's a champion, seems a great bloke and is an important part of the swans' next five years or so
don't worry too much about people not liking him
and welcome, by the way
i think your sister is one of these young swans lasses who's always giving me shite, is she the one just got her driver's licence?

No, that's Kritika.

Anyway Yvonne, has Margaret told you much about the roomies?

aww thanks. I never usually hear any good comments about Jolly, but it's good to know that he's appreciated and valued in the team.

Hi Nat. Yes, Margaret (or Farge as I prefer to call her) has indeed told me lots of stories about the Roomies. Almost every time I'm in my room studying, I would hear her laughing at the computer table, only to run out and see that she's laughing about something on the Roomies Board. But, I'm not too sure what the concept of 'Roomies' is though... but I have some idea that it involves Bevo, Orreal and LRT...

hey guys. well basically, i have been a swans fan my whole life. my dad, terry thripp used to play for them between 1983 - 1992, and i am hoping to follow in his footsteps and play afl one day in the afl, and even for the mighty swans. im 16 at the moment and im going to give it my best shot in the next 2 years to make the afl. so hopefully in a few years, i will be helping the swans to another premiership!

i remember terry thripp...not well, but remember the name
good on you and good luck, my son has a similar determination to play for the swans one day (he's 11) but he lacks the quality bloodlines :)
do you know a jack schwarze, by any chance? his uncle is one of my lad's coaches, and apparently jack was a gun at 16s level for nsw last year

are you playing in sydney?

anyway, all the best

I checked and his father didnt play enough games for Sydney for him to qualify for the Father Son Rule but if he is good enough im sure Sydney will offer him a NSW scholarship within a year or 2. My knowledge of the Swans team from early 80's to early 90's is poor at best but according to my little Sydney Swans booklet Terry Thripp was quite a skilled utility and a rather handy player.

had a bit of mongrel in him too,i might be wrong but his dad might have played for the pies

yep, your right, my grandfather played for the pies, but unfortunately he passed away last year. Dad was also in the north shore team of the century as CHB. yeah, i play in the sydney juniors competition also.

you play against the wollongong lions?

don't laugh, they're my old club...well, they were the wollongong swans, played in the red and white, then they shifted to the sydney league (grew too big for illawarra/south coast) and became w'gong lions
now i think they're actually in the state league, but not sure

hey everyone,

my name's adam and i've just joined bigfooty (obviously :p). i'm 25 and i live in south-eastern melbourne,

my favourite player at the swans is little amon, but moorey is quickly catching up seeing as schneids has moved on. as you can tell i love the short, quick, mid-stocky forwards.

everyones gonna hate me for this but my favourite player from another club is jeff farmer . first game i ever went to was melbourne and hawthorn at waverley in 98 when he kicked that goal when he started at half back, and he's arrogant and loves getting in the face of the crowd, but every team needs one.

i love footy, cricket, wine, coffee and the chaser's war on everything (just brilliant comedy writing). i hope to get to know you all better as i post more on here.

Hot off the press :)

Joined up a few weeks ago. Didn't notice this thread until it was bumped today so thought I might say hi.

Coincidentally, like the lad before me I'm also Adam and turned 25 this week. Been going to Swans games since I was literally 3 months old, back in 1983. The family is a little Swans obsessive, but it's awesome heading out to the ground with them in this busy day and age just as I did as a chiddler.

Been lucky enough to be at all the big games - '05 and '06 GF, '96, '03 and '06 PF, Lockett's 1300th, '93 Vs Melbourne (etc). The club has brought alot of joy (and heartache) into my life but I wouldn't have changed the path of their journey for anything - we all remember that surreal ecstasy of September '05, the dark years of the early 90's made it so much sweeter.

Although no-one is interested (and with a view to avoiding readings for uni this afternoon), a little about me... Grew up in Maroubra, currently living with my gf and beloved cat. Work part time in a profit-less video store for a cranky bastard. Did a B Psych (Hons) after school, took a couple of years off to travel and make merry. Currently completing the second year of a Masters of Clinincal Psych, should be wrapped up by the end of this year when I can finally kiss my innocence away and join the real world. I love film, restaurants and cooking, reading, George Costanza, hiking, wasting time on forums, and above everything else - travel.

Glad to have a found an active and devoted little Swans group. Look forward to chatting.
