Yep. And the Swans had that not too long ago. We're still trialing players to deliver that role.

Rebounding? Phurt. We specialise in nervously crabbing sideways until our play is poleaxed by a bit of slippery seaweed and we are speared with a goal.

One of the kids in that trial is playing for Collingwood and winning a RS nomination. Another won a premiership against us. Do you mean trial as in trial and tribulation?
Biggs could hardly get a game last year and so far this year at the dogs, Bevo got an Allir complex with him? Murray looks great so far, I wish him well.

Nup. Still no idea what you're talking about. Collingwood thrashed us last year ? What, thrashed by one point ? Clarkson was thrashed by North. So much for that plan. Didn't we beat Richmond last year when Hardwick was a genius ? You're living in a parallel universe. Hi from Earth 1.

What has Hawthorn being thrashed by North to do with how we fold up when we play the Hawks.
Sure Collingwood beat us by a point. Played us with the Hawthorn waltz before we went on the catch up road and you know how hard that can be. Hawthorn also beat us on the siren but we expected that on performances since 2014. Richmond played the way we love it, hard on the tackle and no uncontested footy.
Those who talk Dusty cannot be seeing him standing up forward for large percentage of quarters. The ball is still coming down without him being involved in everything.
Hardwick wasn't a genius last year, he turned out to have an ability to change. The genius tag fits this year because no one has worked out a plan that will effectively quieten the Tiges. Sure Adelaide beat them first up but I think WE BEAT Hawthorn ONCE too.
This week we will see Hawthorn work from the centre to the flank, a short kick up, another kick up and then Roughead , Breust or Gunstan run onto another low driving kick on the chest after their forward zone is split wide open by dummy leads.
We watch, man the mark, we watch, man the mark...kick after kick. What is more frustrating to a footballer than that and more importantly takes it the gas out of players when the urgency to man the mark is repeated over and over. North did it Saturday night. Look at how our defence is leaking this year.
Someone mentioned Robinson out, why? He continually delivers in the NEAFL and was given limited time on the ground against North. He was a star prior to his injuries last year and surely has to be given a proper chance.
Newman was also a star last year, now being ignored. Mitchell was star for several years and was treated like he had the plague, He was in and out for long periods because his defence was supposedly lacking. They put him on Mitchell from the Hawks and he stopped him dead. Murray never given a chance. Dawson so far....one game?
Mitchell, Murray and Nankervis gone as will Cameron if he doesn't get an opportunity soon. Maibum has to be given an early chance or he too will quickly lose his confidence. Melican and Maibum have big bodies and well able to take a role off Rampe to release him to do what he does best.
We have speed to burn at the kick off after a point......give it to McVeigh or Lloyd. Opponents are really concerned as to what these to can get up to with their one trick, short kick & sometimes the old up and under to a packed centre wing.
It appears we are not allowed to support kicker by running off with him to break the defence sometimes. Sure there are risks but if the kick finds someone unmarked at half back isn't it reasonable to get to him for a handpass. I speak specifically of Rohan who can easily outpoint a tackler if he is given the confidence to station himself from time to time for such a play.
Seven rounds , three losses, so something needs a change. Is there any dare in us at all.
Regards to all from space to you on earth!

I haven't disliked the way either of them have played the last few games, I just think that if they bring in another tall, it will be in the forward line. So then, it will be most likely that we would lose a player from there. Against the Hawkes, I think it unlikely that they will drop experience, so that leaves Ronke and Fox. And I thought that Ronke had given a bit more than Fox, therefore Fox would be dropped...

However, now that I have seen the weather forecast (OMG!), I have no idea what they will do...

Why wouldn't' you give Florent a rest given both Ronke and Fox both ran harder and impacted the game more?
Honest question.
If Florent holds a place after a one possession half then what does that do to the other players either dropped or not getting a look?
Just freshen the kid up a bit. I'd even hold him out of the NEAFL by keeping him as our emergency.

Only because I thought that he (Florent) played on the wing mostly, and I thought we needed someone deep which would have been Buddy. If Hanners had come in I would have nominated Florent because as you say, he could probably do with a rest.

However, given the conditions, Buddy will most likely play up the ground imo, so now I have no idea at all... :(o_O I think it is going to be a slugfest, so what we really need is down and dirty contested players, maybe a few JPK and Parker clones... Do we have any do you know???

Are you dropping Florent because of a 1 possession half or to rest him?
Either suggestion is a bit extreme. He got into the game in the second half, which suggests he doesn't need a freshen up.

Limp performance by us, after a big one the previous week at Kardinia Park. I think in the final analysis, they had Brown, Ziebell and Cunnington, and we were without Buddy or Sam Reid. We'll need Buddy back against the Hawks.

He had 3 possessions to 3/4 time.
I'm dropping him for both reasons. That ain't good enough no matter how good he might be going to be. And that level of involvement tells me pretty comprehensively he's not able to impact so needs a freshen up.
Just my opinion - and I'm aware most others don't agree. Blinded by the sunshine coming out of his arse IMHO. :p
I'm not yet convinced he'll amount to much, though has shown some glimpses this year for sure.

Check the interview with Cameron on the website. There is a mountain of a kid who debuted for the NEAFL team last weekend and kicked a couple, Hamish Allen. From what they were talking about that is him kicking the goals in the video.... He might only be 16, but I'll back him as he looks about 6'2 and 98kgs. (Don't even know what position he plays - but let's put him in the mids).:D

That you have waited for him to have a quiet half (not game) to go back to the nonsense that he hasn't shown enough/isn't big enough bla-bla-bla says your position is not based on reality.

No sorry, I’ve had games where I’ve done absolutely zero in the first half and scorched the second half. It happens and unfortunately, it even happens in reverse (but that’s probably me). That fact that he’s broken the shackles indicates that he’s worked harder in that second half and don’t worry...he would’ve got a good ‘talking to’ to turn it all around! That’s how you become a player.

LOL I don't have to wait for him to have a quiet game. He's only ever had 2 games that weren't quiet !
3 possessions till 3/4 time. That's not even quiet - that is MIA. Gary Rohan would be embarrassed...
The stats don't lie. It's your perception that's not based on reality.
Anyway lets see how he goes in the wet on the weekend. Will be happy if he has a 4 quarter blinder and goes 16 possessions 8 tackles and a goal.

Yeah ok.

Florent doesn't do enough to be a lock in the team, but he is also getting games that are much needed for a soon-to-be 20 year old to build upon. I'm also not seeing the hype others are just yet - I think when he is on he is just a handy player at this stage - but I'm a believer in him for the long term.

OK. Stop. This is like a stream of consciousness. It's really hard to understand what point, if any, you're trying to make. Here I've picked out a few bits.

Fact. Hawthorn got thrashed by Kangas whereas we only lost due to a goal being incorrectly awarded. So Clarkson is not the wunderkid
Fact. Collingwood did not thrash us last year. They squeaked home by a point. As usual, early season turned out to be a poor indicator of the final 8.
Fact. We beat Richmond last year. They managed to avoid us in the finals but clearly we didn't have a problem with Dusty.
Fact. What Rampe does best is what he does every week. FFS, he's AA in that position. Why move him ? Just as many folks get on here and whine that players are played out of position. If you can think of anyone else who could have played as close to Ben Brown without actually ending up "in the brown" ,so to speak, then I'd like to know who. He's still one of the inform defenders of the comp.
Fact. Robinson pissed himself, did nothing and there were other players deserving of a chance. Does Horse i) Say, that's OK. You just didn't feel like it this week, or ii) Say, that's not good enough. You need to make an effort. Go back to the NEAFL as you're clearly not ready and prove that you are. It's been said before that being warm and fuzzy is not helping anyone, that the players like Horse because he's up front with them and they know where they stand.
Fact. Mitchell plays as well as he does today partly because he wasn't gifted games and was forced to do the hard yards both ways. Did he leave for lack of opportunity ? Rubbish. He was a walk up start when he left. He left for big bucks. Nankervis left because we had too many rucks. Both were Vic boys. Then who knew we'd lose 2 of remaining rucks in the space of a month. Besides, nothing indicated Nankervis would be a premiership ruckman. Sometimes it takes a particular club with the right need at the right time and the player just fits. Do you want to say the Swans have a retention or recruiting issue ? Again, rubbish. We have the homesick factor and cost of living but we still have our share of wins and losses, more than most. Right now we'd probably like to have Ted's brother too but we let him go.

My advice is to start with writing sentences, then paragraphs and work up to a full length novel. Don't start with War & Peace on post number 50. Earn some cred. Focus on the positives too. No-one wants to hear a stream of criticism without a balance. It just comes across as whining. I mean, FFS, sure we can do better but we're doing OK given we're running makeshift ruck forward lines. Win this and we're 5-3
