Actually Broken, feel free to PM the mods (me, Blacky and Cloud_).

We've never had anybody speak to us personally on this issue and the only real talk we've said about it has been conjecture so it would be nice to get a clear view on it.
Be nice to get a transparent view on it. In particular, the thoughts of another respected veteran that has given quite a bit to the league.

Or is that too much to ask?

I feel that the "Mean Girls" style of gang up sometimes goes too far. Whoever said that, I thought it was a good way to describe it.

But I've not been the centre of it. I've watched it and thought, hmmm, jeez, bit much?

But if the person getting the heat hasn't complained, not much can be done. And no, off the top of my head I can't bring a situation up.

If it happened to me, I probably wouldn't complain, I'd just withdraw.

Understandable.

We will step in when things are breaking the rules of either BigFooty or the Sweet FA but have to assume posters can handle themselves when they take on an argument. We aren't here to police to our own standards. As I inferred to SSwans earlier, if it's one v multiple posters in the real internet that usually means "one" is wrong. I will also assure you, on my oath, that there are not coordinated attacks taking place. Generally if the BC or Bombers or any group are involved in a group defence it is because they have been brought up for something, I've never seen an instance of somebody just innocently going about their business. It's very important that people understand that the internet is the internet. It also makes sense that people who have developed friendships have done so because they share viewpoints, only natural they'd argue together. To use the example of the Facebook chat, it is two and a half (five seasons) old... the league only knows about it this season because Haro found out about it... now known friends posting together are referred to as Mean Girls. Little unfair. It was never a thing beforehand. And as you said, you can't bring up a situation, very few can when asked. Maybe a little bit of whispers becoming fact?

It would be nice to get any view at all by anybody as a mod. We're getting nothing. I'm not trying to suppress Broken, he himself said he wasn't going to post.

I think one issue that is forgotten in all of this is that gang posting cripples the team structure of the Sweet FA. Like I alluded to earlier, as the BC issue is mostly autonomous from any individual Sweet FA side. Any individual brave or stupid enough to decide to go to war with the BC does so with limited support. I know the BC is the result of some real life friendships, and it's obviously going to be difficult to put aside these real life friendships when posting in the league, but I don't think it's that much of a stretch to suggest that gang posting autonomous from the existing teams is damaging to the league's structure.

This is another issue. Currently, we're assuming that people would complain were they the subject of gang posting. Sweet FA posters have a tendency to bury themselves deeper when they run into trouble like this, instead of digging up.

tgrs and Le Grille are two, the other one asked me specifically not to say.

The **** mate?

I said the Furies shit was outstandingly one track minded and boring, just like the League in general to me at this point, but that's all my opinion and the only thing affecting my decision. Could you not talk out of your ass next time. Nothing about harrassment.

So this is the first season in the history of the league when people have been friends in the Sweet FA and people have posted together because they disagree with somebody else. Right...

Tarkyn_24 was added into the Facebook chat the other day by boncer (he left of his own accord, probably was bored by the cricket talk) and the first thing he remarked on was how many people there were... it's currently at 25 members. Have you ever seen 25 people come down hard on somebody in an argument? Ever been worried by the group viewpoints put forward by Wacky Tiger or Mooch or Brown Bottle?

Blaming an entity for a few posters that argue together is stupid. There are some of the most active posters in the history of the Sweet FA in that group. Fact is this, if nobody knew about this group nobody would care that pantskyle, brahj and Blacky were arguing the same point. And even then most of the "gang posting" is on against an individual that has accused said "gang" of something ridiculous like rigging the game. Jumping at shadows comes to mind.

And here's the thing that gets me most... the completely active posters have worked this out already. The part timers are still thinking the issue from six months ago is still an actual thing.

I actually watched it again the other day, introduced it to my daughter when the family needed a movie to watch.
Holds up well.

Getting remade I think.

I remember watching it as a kid, sneaking out at 5 in the morning to watch it as everybody slept as I did most movies above my age allowance...

For clarity, I left the group because I generally try to keep my personal life separate from those I deal with on the internet. I have about 5 people from Bigfooty on my Facebook and that’s it so I wasn’t comfortable nor did I particularly want that connection. Wasn’t anything personal, and I actually discussed this with Wacky before I left the chat.

But yeah, as you say, 25 people in that chat is quite a bit. Which is also pertinent to a lot of the discord. There have been friendships and alliances in the competition, but not on that scale. It changes the dynamic a bit when you go up against something like that and people outside of that circle can feel intimidated by it.

That's fair enough mate, if it helps bonce just added you. I still think you're a good looking unit x

Either way, no judgement. The joke was made you hate the Aussie cricket team and then it moved on.

That makes my point though, when are you or anybody up against 25 people? When are you up against 5? The chat barely references the Sweet FA (we do when we're being targeted as you would have seen). It's not a Sweet FA chat.

Sometimes some people here need to realise this forum is a very small part of BigFooty.

I understand that, but I don’t think I’ve ever argued that on any occasion anyone has been up against 25 at once. All I’ve ever suggested is that the vibe of the competition has shifted, some of the veterans in the competition haven’t liked the move, it is what it is and it’s been a shame to lose posters that I’ve enjoyed playing against. The competition is much more vanilla and there’s one very strong clique in my view but that’s just the way things have evolved.

I’ve jumped in to defend people when I think their concerns haven’t been seriously considered by the competition’s leaders - most if not all of whom are in the above mentioned clique.

I have no issues with the boys club, or the competition as it is. But I do think that when people raise concerns they can probably be listened to a little more openly.

I don't think it could have been listened to more openly Tarks.

We've re-formatted the mod group, we've spent time with BigFooty admin... still, we don't have a victim. There's no face to the bullying accusations. There's just people that think something is happening but the mods haven't even had a reported post.

Apart from that, if people want to align that's their choice. There's no solution to this. Other people are simply just going to have to deal with it.

I love good wholesome family movies as well..

now known friends posting together are referred to as Mean Girls.
This is incorrect.

I said people ganging up was a Mean Girls style....this was not aimed at one side. Someone else did that, I thought the term good for the act, not a group.

As you know, I have no issue with the "BC", we have discussed this in a PM.

And I personally, on both sides, don't think they are coordinated. As you say, like minded people group together. I've no issue with any of it. I know, whatever comes my way, it's on the internet, and I can walk away if I want. I just think, on both sides, it's gone too far on occasion. Now if it doesn't break a rule, but in some peoples eyes has gone too far, it's a tough area to police. It's very blurry. It's a tough job and overall I think it's done well.

It's pulled back a bit, and that's good.

My main point was about maybe people (like I would) not wanting to raise a fuss, and just step back. Just because it isn't reported doesn't mean the actions were right.

Anyway, just trying to put a human spin on the possible grey areas.

Wig Out.

We're not making progress here. Seems like I'm arguing one thing, and you're arguing something completely different. The size of the group is not important at all, and I have never suggested there's ever been 25 posters ganging up on any individual. What I will suggest, though, is that I have noticed an increase in the prominence of cliques (or a single clique) in the league, which could be, as Tarkyn_24 suggested, intimidating.

I have also stated in almost every post I have made on the subject that both the BC and those calling the BC out are equally at fault. I'm not blaming the entity for a few posters arguing together, I'm merely questioning whether the entity has something to do with the posters arguing together. To be honest, I highly doubt that there has not been, at the very least, a slight impact.

Also, you say that people would not care about pantskyle, brahj and Blacky arguing together if HaroLad had not discovered the group as if that makes it okay. Again, I do not care about the existence of such a group, I care about its potential impact on the group. My question is whether this group that is allegedly completely separate from the league impacts the behaviour of posters or has played a role in forming cliques within the league. Because if it has, it clearly isn't separate from the league, and again, has the potential to prove intimidating to posters. You could argue it's Haro's fault for discovering the group, but the reality of the situation is that most posters now know it exists.

Finally, I'm not sure of the accuracy of this, but someone from within the group did mention the group members come from predominantly 3-4 clubs. IF true, do you not see how this could encourage clique behaviour?

Anyway, I'm going to go MIA until tomorrow night. Good debate.

I'm sorry mate, I'm struggling to find any relevance here. I'm also struggling to find evidence.

There has always been cliques in this league. There has also always been cliques in BigFooty. People can play where and with and for whom they like.

You're literally asking for solutions that no moderator or forum or admin or webmaster in the history of the internet has ever been able to solve.

I never referred to you EJ.

However, if people don't want to report, or PM, or discuss then we have an impasse. We are dealing with a phantom problem. It goes both ways.
