This is like a runaway train now.

I shall do my best to steer things back on course with a questionaire (that's right, I'm giving you all homework as punishment for being the most unherdable bunch of cats this side of Grey Gardens)

1. What should our tall set-up be for this week? Do we have McLean/Amartey rucking again? Do we replace Amartey with Buller? Do we revert back to the pure ruckman thing? If we do who gets dropped? Etc.

2. How about the midfield? Are Mills & Warner ready for increased inside minutes? Does that mean more outside time for Gulden? Do we run a tag on Merrett? Etc.

3. How do we combat Wright & Langford? Do we need to bring in another tall defender to help out McCartin? Does Rampe or Fox have it covered? How do we stop Blakey from getting taken out of the game? Was last week's small defender dysfunction an aberration or something to be concerned about? Etc.

Discuss.
1. Same ruck/fwd setup. However if we decide that Amartey needs to go back to the ressies for form and confidence, I'd bring McAndrew in. If we decide to manage Bud with the knee knock, then Buller.

2. Yes. Warner looked cooked in the last quarter, but should be better for it. Mills had 3% CBA so it's hard to see him doing less in the mids. A tag, please. We shouldn't, but you just know Rowy's getting those instructions.

3. Don't forget Bryan and Cox as well. I was going to say no, but I think we probably do bring Francis or Arnold in. You'd then have Tom on Wright, Francis/Arnold on Bryan, Rampe on Cox, Fox on Langford. No idea who to drop for Francis/Arnold though, do we manage someone to the sub, or is it Bud/Amartey out for a KPD only...(surely not if it's Amartey). Florent would get Stringer then if he plays.

I wouldn't be against playing Francis as a fu to his old club.
Fox plays sub.

Joel has about as much fitness continuity as a Wes Anderson flick. Its like a candle in the wind. Unreliable.

Buller or Ladhams.

That's the only question I'm asking.

Agree with your first part, disagree with your second. We will continue with our tall forwards unless there is an injury or rotation. The more games they play together the better they will be.

Joel is injured.

Amartey is a burst/power/explosive athlete. I'm unsure why people are expecting a high TOG from him. The swans have also changed the way they've managed him this season, they've realised you're not getting endurance or high TOG from him consistently. It's unfair to expect it from him when that's not the type of player ditto for someone like Mclean who isn't going to have agility. Tall players all have some sort of physical limitations unless you're a freak of nature like Buddy.

Re C88 ?s

Their ruck is primarily a tap ruck who is not adept around the ground. He will beat HMac at CBs but may be outbodied at ruck contests around the ground. HMac will beat him around the ground.

Hickey needs another run in the 2s and Ladhams probably two.

Martin struggled v Bravedogs but is a quality winger. I expect he and Errol will play on each other. Mills will pick up more CBA time but may spend time on the other wing. Cox may play there again or down back to cover for Ridley. I expect time will be put into Merrett by Rowy. Parker and our third will mix with it with Parish and one of others cycled through. Parish picked up a number of tackles which was unusual. He and Merrett will get a lot of ball but are susceptible to body pressure and neither are renowned 2 way runners.

I would keep our backs from last week . McCartin will take 2MP and Ramps will will take Langford who is around 192cm. We need to do better in handling the smalls than we did v Freo.

Doubt the Weed will return and if so it might be to support their defence against our three talls. So at the moment I reckon they will run with one tall fwd, one medium and Four mediums. No real need for Francis or Arnold

The bye for the 2s screwed continuity for players like Buller who along with Arnold and Roberts were three of our very few bright lights. Had the 2s played and Buller again performed I'd happily give him a go instead of Amartey. Maybe Joel was crook if the rumour was true but he played quite poorly imo. The Ressies bye saves I think.

So I suggest NO CHANGES, other than the emergencies who should be Roberts, Francis/Arnold, Buller/MacAndrew and Stephens. Corey and Clarke can concentrate on prep for the Ressies.

I didn't get a response earlier when I posted about this, but I'm sure someone said Amartey was sick as a dog on Saturday night, so assuming he's over whatever it was, we should cut him some slack for last week's performance.

Don't be silly, only 35 year olds play through illness! /s

It was me. I observed Horse coughing his guts up, looking sick as a dog, and Amartey gasping for air on the bench. Wondered if they were both crook.
Isn't Amartey ALWAYS gasping for breath on the bench? Particularly after half time, he always looks done to me.

Most of us love Franga and want him to succeed, but it was clear that was never happening with us.
Just had a peek at the Essendon board.

Their preview thread is a mix of self-loathing, the odd COLA snark, and debate over who their prime whipping boy should be.

Meanwhile, we talk about potatoes.

Any arguments to the contrary is ridiculous

Part 1 - Franga! Best nickname EVER!

Part 2 - Already debunked, post #175
Besides, it would mean he and Flip could play in the same game for once :p
