Well, it's a pretty sad state of affairs when you look at the last 50 years or so and take K Sheedy out of the equation.

Granted he was a great Coach and brought them success, but try these facts on for size:

* In Sheedy's 27 year reign, he coached them into 19 final series, playing 43 finals for 23 wins, 6 grand final appearances for 4 flags.

* In the other 27 seasons covering both before and after his reign, it's pretty grim reading.

* They've only played in 9 final series and in each and every occasion they've been bundled out in the first week.

* Yep, that's right. They have not won one final in that 27 year time span compared to Sheedy's 23 wins in his 27 years. No grand finals - no flags. Nada.

* The last year that Essendon actually won a final that was not coached by K Sheedy was 1968. 19 f*****g 68!

* That long ago, only 9 posters on this Board were alive, the Vietnam war was raging and a can of Coke cost 10c.

* For the record, it's been 20,080 days since Essendon won a final not coached by K Sheedy.
