What I saw of them against the roos a few weeks back didn't convince me of their finals credentials. (Some of the non finalists must have been dreadful!) And their star Maddie P is fine but went to the Joel Selwood school of drawing head high tackles. Umpires at this level fell for it every time.

The settlement must come out of the soft cap. Otherwise, every club could just under pay staff then when they leave, they claim the amount they were underpaid plus a bit extra for the deal and voila, soft cap avoided successfully!!!!!

NB: I'm not as shifty as a real accountant so there would probably be even more dodgy methods but the old trick above was apparently a nudge nudge wink wink deal between newspapers and pollies for decades.
