Autopsy Tale of two halves vs. Freo

Was at the game and all of those stood out.
I haven’t seen the replay with the post ball, but my initial feeling was that it was touched and that’s why it was a throw in.
Didn’t stop me voicing my displeasure though….
I was in the cheer squad and the ball thumped into the post. Was it touched? Difficult to say. There were people closer than I was who gave the impression that they thought it was not touched.

Just watching the Syd-Ess game while I read this thread and the worst of all of the boundary decisions just happened. Far worse than Higgins and worse than ours today

Wtf is going on with boundary umpiring ??
What happened?

PS: Earlier on I mentioned that I'd be happy if syydney lost. Obviously, I meant if they came a draw so both teams lost.

Yep. Bit of a trend since the Higgins goal. No idea.

At this point last season, we were 2-0.

Factually, we have gone backwards believe it or not

The boys have 20 or so games to arrest the shitness and show us they are better.

Not true at all. Laughable base-level analysis. We played West Coast and a less capable Freo side in rounds 1 and 2. Compare that to this year. I’ll let you do the thinking with this one.

I thought it hit the post on the full, I was behind the goals too, maybe my brain went to touched to make sense of the decision.
Another crap boundry decision in a fortnight of them. Maybe they do want a chip in the ball after all.

To be fair to the more optimistically inclined, we've had really good patches in both games, but the biggest sign of progress for this team at the moment would be shaking off those extended periods of shitness. Arresting momentum and saying 'no, * you, we're gonna fight tooth and nail and make this hell for you.' The head dropping and half-hearted efforts are so embedded in our DNA, I don't see an easy solution

I can agree with this point. Firstly, we look much improved on last year. Secondly, we need to be able to put games to bed and learn how to control the flow of games. That’s the difference between 4 wins and 10 wins. I do think we will beat Hawthorn in round 6 to get our first win, but these next few games we will just have to settle for signs unfortunately.

such a minor mistake in the whole scheme of things...umpires make a split decision no replays, get over it.
Minor mistake they reckon. Would have been a shot on goal. Potentially reduces the lead to under four goals. Are you actually the umpire in question

One of the * players clearly marked the ball out on the full, then ran 5 metres with it, OOB the whole time, passed it in board to F50, led directly to a * goal.

Most of the 1st half was great. Some of best, exciting footy I’ve seen in a while.

And then the 3rd quarter started……9 unanswered goals :/

Last quarter looked like the guys tried and made the game somewhat competitive.

These kinda results are gonna continue when the side is being carried by 2nd & 1st year players.

Larkey dropped a sitter soon after as well. If either of those had worked out, we would have been up to our ears in it.
Either that or Simpkin & Duursma kicking their relatively easy set shots when we were 5 goals up. Those two could have killed the game then and there.

The three crap decisions in a row, within about 5 minutes, in Adelaide a few days ago takes the cake at this point. Then the boundary umpire couldn’t even throw it in when required. Maybe that’s why he didn’t call them.
