Traded Tanner Bruhn [Traded to Geelong for #18]

Because Bruhn is a B-grader at best. Now Collingwood will get your future first for Henry.

I love how all the tiggies are up and about after being absolutely rinsed by GWS for a couple of bog average plodders.

How much cap are these blokes taking up? and for how long? Yikes.

Geelong honestly dodged a bullet missing out on Hopper, wouldn't say he is a plodder but definitely overrated and far from a match winner..

I'd call 18 a win for Geelong.

They don't need to risk drafting a bust (which Bruhn is not), and Bruhn has 2 years of development in him, so he's pretty much AFL ready and ready to go, yet is still young enough to give 200 games service to the Cats.

Choice of 18 or Tanner Bruhn if you're a list manager, and I reckon 9/10 are taking Tanner Bruhn.
I'll also call it a win but I'll point out Bruhn could still be a bust. He's not without limitations but worth the price paid I think

I was disappointed we missed out on Hopper for about five minutes until I heard Richmond had offered seven years

For reference that's longer than the deals we signed Dangerfield and Cameron to.

And people bagged Carlton for the 7 year deal for Harry McKay, but yeah, all well for a player who has never even once made the AA team in Hopper lol

I actuality think taranto and hope are good pick ups for them in the right place of their list needs and at a worthwhile price. They'll need to start looking at defenders soon though

Only 22, still plenty of time to put it together

Slow small midfielder that doesn't find much of the ball or use it very well.

What exactly is he going to put together?

I would accept it if he had something that stood out. Speed or skill or size. Has none of the above.

I think he will eek out a 150+ game career but never be much more than an average rotational mid. Maybe in the grand scheme of things that's not too bad for a pick 18.

100% how I see it. Our board sings his praises everytime he gets 15 disposals while ignoring the 30 touches his direct opponent gets. You won't find many midfielders who get regularly torched the way Bruhn does.

He can't play in any position outside of centre square and soaks up midfield time. Unacceptable for a player who averages less than 20 touches a game.

His speed is ok but he is so poor on the spread it doesn't matter. He game is similar to Daniel Harris (for those that remember him) without the defensive accountability.

Best case scenario he develops into a serviceable AFL player but right now he ain't that.

Mids who can't find easy uncontested ball just won't survive in the modern AFL. So much of footy is played on transition now. The specialist ball winner is going extinct unless you're exceptional like a Neale or a Cripps.

Yeah I expected a bit more from him but I'll give him a bit more time. I think he gets exposed for speed when he's playing around slow players but he has good vision and disposal in congestion, just too susceptible to pressure because he's half a step behind.

I don't think he's a bad player.

Just can't really see him becoming a great player.

Very few slow small midfielders elevate themselves.

Yeah I mean we're (obviously) desperate for mids so pick 21 i think it was on a "not bad" mid while we try line up and develop others was worth a throw at the stumps.

Maybe it doesn't work out but I think we made the right decision at the time

A late first rounder is a bit of crap shoot territory. It's very much boom or bust.

I think looking back if Tanner has a 150+ game career you wouldn't be too upset but at the same time you're always left with the question of what could have been.

He's got time to prove me wrong in any case.
