On the cash thing. With White off to port we save 200k a year plus the money we have saved in our cap by keeping dusty at a good fair price. We have the dollars. Most likely a 3 way trade will happen but when and IF Adams nominates us, a deal needs to get done.

I wouldnt feel comfortable paying Adams $400-$450 py whilst having players like Ellis & Conca just taking the deals that they were given , Wasnt that what we were trying to establish with our players - A tiered pay structure

100% But whos saying anything about paying him that money. We do have some pulling power, the finals did wonders for us with other players. He also has friendships at the club and our average age and prospect of playing compelling footy appeals, considering he has been only involved in 3 or so wins since playing AFL.

IMO 300 ish which is fair for his talent. Just got to get him to prefer us which will find out Friday imo

He talked up the Pies visit and proposal and did not mention any other club until prompted.
I'm leaning to us being quieter this trade and F/A than in the past.

I listened to that and the only reason it came across like that was, the commentators actually pre-empted the discussion about the pies being a preferred destination.

I'm actually a family friend of Taylor Adams, last time I spoke to him (around 2 months ago) he said that Richmond was his preferred club. So it's all about whether a deal gets done or not. I actually think he will probably end up at Collingwood but that is only because they have more to offer to GWS than Richmond.

I agree that 300K is reasonable, But with other clubs offering the reported $400-$450 and with their ability to satisfy GWS - Im not that confident that he will be prepared to say Richmond is his preffered club

Collingwood has just as much probably more chance of playing deep into september than tigers next year and possibly beyond and lets face it with the players that are leaving the pies this year under buckleys fresh broom policy Adams will be Guaranteed start up also.
Midfield of Pendlebury,Swan,Beams,Sidebottom etc would also be apealing to him as ours

Money will be the deciding factor i believe

I think the issue is you're nit picking!

It should be expected (and embraced) by our playing group that new players like Adams will be on a bit more coin BECAUSE they have to move and integrate into another club and everything that comes with that is a pain in the ass. Consider the the extra 100K a pain in the ass tax (or PIA tax, if you will).

The only way I would uproot my family to move interstate is for a nice promotion and PIA (although I would move to Melbourne in a heart beat to get to go to the MCG every other week, but I digress).

Adams gets the PIA tax because that's what it takes to lure and settle him in. I think we could all agree that a little bit of PIA would go a long way to lure and retain players
