Teammates that didn't like each other

There was a story about a car's side window and someone's neck, but I would have thought that was in the 80's.

Apparently Ty Zantuck graffiti'd the Richmond changerooms and then when told to go clean it up, went and stuffed up the repainting. That story was on one of the tiger newsgroups at the time.

Back in the Jack Dyer days I think it was hard for Anglicans to get a game at 'Catholic' Richmond. This kind of thing was pervalent all over society though, not just at Tigerland.
I heard about the Ty Zantuck one... he was a hack though, no big loss...

Nathan Brown and Lindsay Gilbee
Brad Johnson and Aker?
Luke Penny left the Dogs because of Nathan Brown. Nath off-sided a few people in his time at the club, although he is still friends with West, Gia and Murphy I believe.

Body language between Johnno and Aker during the Saints game was very good, Brad is big enough to take criticism onboard I hope.

Re: The 'real' reasons why COACHES were sacked!!

Ian Stewart's reign as Carlton coach ended prematurely as he was caught by senior club officials wearing the wardrobe of Mrs. Stewart once too often. ;)

What a crock. Penny left for numerous reasons none of which was this one. I used to work with a member of his family when he left and am willing to bet your story emanates from Bulldogs fans still hurting that Brown left.

Even makes more of a joke the speech Lloyd made welcoming him to Windy Hill and saying that he would prove what a good player he was now that he was at a club that knew hoe to look after players.

Good one Lloydy.

Re: The 'real' reasons why COACHES were sacked!!

More explanation of Wallace's exploits at Hawthorn (Gaol) as one poster mentioned would be great to read. :thumbsu:

Wallace wanted to play as a full-time centreman with the Hawks in an era when we were blessed with some of the best centremen in the competition. He refused to play in the position earmarked for him by Allan Jeans and demanded extra money to stay at the Hawks. The Hawks called his bluff and cleared him to Footscray.

Then when the Hawks and Tigers coaching jobs became vacant, he claimed that he was appointed to the best job of the two, intimating that he had turned down the Hawks. The truth is that Hawthorn never approached him.

There's a reason why his nickname is "Wallet".

Speaking of Royce Hart, him and Kevin Sheedy weren't the best of mates at Richmond. Sheedy alludes to it in his book. Seemed like a lot of the Tigers players found Hart to be a bit aloof and disapproving of some of the dirty tactics the likes of Sheedy would employ.

However, all were in awe of his ability on the footy field.

We know that! what about the things he supposedly did... which should have seen a gaol sentence?
Or was this a Hawk supporter making rubbish up?

Dougie Hawkins / Brad Hardie and Mick Malthouse. Infact any coach who forced Doug / Brad to train 'with intensity' found trouble in one way or another.
Allegedly Beer cans were thrown.

Royce Hart (Coach) and Bulldog players. Hart wanted them to train hard... they wanted none of it.

Well thats funny because he went to Richmond before the Dog's twit.

Can we also do the 'real' reasons why VFL / AFL coaches have been sacked, or had to resign and why coaches have had to retire 'prematurely'.

As well as Assistant / coaches at individual clubs who also disliked each other.

I was once at work about 4 or so years back and a customer came in and started speaking to me about her beloved Western Bulldogs etc.

She said to me that her Grandson ''Adam Contessa'' that once played for the dogs left because he couldn't stand Terry Wallace and that Wallace was the type of coach that wanted him to eat of his boots.

That was exactly what she said and I didn't really care at the time but now I can honestly see why players such as Bowden's and Petifer have/had fall outs.

I've heard alot of wierd stories about the reason Ty Zantuck was kicked out of Richmond and never liked at Essendon... Just grapevine rumours though I'm sure...

Apparently Kayne Pettifer isn't liked much at Richmond either

Didn't Kouta openly slam Denis Pagan in his auto-biography?

Warwick Capper created a few enemies over his time at the bears, however I think some of that had to do with his enormous unearned pay-cheques.
