the sad thing is that

if we win tomolo, i can really see those who have led the team for the past 4 years thinking

itd be like oh our season is forgiven ... sign westoff on another 3 years etc ... no cracks here ... move along
Yup.

But in reality they will be like that anyway.

Possibly the most depressing probability in history of the club.....

Unfortunately that's exactly what will happen if we win. Exactly like the wins we managed on the back end of last year too.

I hope it's a great day for the Club today. The weather looks supurb, the oval will look amazing. I hope we play as good as we possibly can and have a great win for our first up game at Adelaide Oval.

Then as of tomorrow I hope whoever is leading the direction in what we do between tomorrow and next year, firstly sits down and watches every single game of the season once again to understand that no matter what happens today some very hard decisions are needed.

Too often our "coaching group" have been totally wrong with marking late season form or wins down as being the norm, when often it's the total opposite.

Enjoy the day, DO NOT forget about the previous 20 odd games.

What a load of BS. I'm sure everyone will be slapping each other on the back saying job well done

If a win today means the group has an air of optimism about it going into preseason how is that a bad thing?? I'm sure no one is happy not making the finals for 4 years.

As for Westhoff so what if he gets a 3 year contract. Even if he's not in our best 22 in 2 years, when I hope we'll be ip and about, he'd be a fair replacement if one of our talls goes down. A squad wins a premiership, the better the depth the better the team.

Primus doesn't sound too back slappy.

He can see light at the end of Port's darkest season but admitted it had ''a hell of a lot of work to do to get some respectability back amongst the AFL''.

''We have been able to get a huge amount of games and experience into our young players and that is going to hold them in good stead,'' he said. ''But we have got a hell of a lot of work to do to make sure we're just a good team.''
