He found a way to make it about him, alright. Sad. Guess he wanted in to the movie as well. Hope he’s made to look as dumb in that as he does now.

I was almost starting to think the negatively about him wasn’t justified. The feel good story of the century has been soured by this wannabe hero. Well done.

Saman was widely hailed as a hero but the boys, aged 11 to 16, were only told about his death on Saturday after a medical team said they were strong enough mentally to handle the news. A number of them wept after hearing it.

“All cried and expressed their condolences by writing messages on a drawing of Lieutenant Commander Saman and observed one minute of silence for him,” said Jedsada Chokdamrongsuk, permanent secretary at the health ministry.

About three hours after the last boys and Chantawong made it out on Tuesday, with the last navy personnel leaving the cave, the entire rescue system suddenly collapsed.

“All of a sudden a water pipe burst and the main pump stopped working,” Changkwanyuen said. “We really had to run from the third chamber to the entrance because the water level was rising very quickly – like 50cm every 10 minutes.”

Very interesting report from 4 Corners.

Interviews with divers involved, fair bit of detail.

I watched it. Everything I imagined about this rescue was no where near the actual difficulty that was presented. Fully sedated kids being manouvered through several kilometers of zero visibility water including tiny gaps in the rock and vertical passages. Any mistake could have killed the child or the rescuer. Mind blown.

Yep, so well coordinated

So all the aussie rescuers were given the star of courage by Canberra, which is the second highest civilian honour.
The question is what the **** do you have to do to get the highest honour...
Probably run through machine gun fire and rescue a dying mate. Also , I was right in predicting on this thread that the soccer boys would be anesthetized .It was the only option really, as a panicked kid could kill themselves and their diver.
