I wish I had better words or more generous spirit right now.
Everyone else has written what should be said, expressed the right wishes to Cyril.
Why can't I draw from that well right now?
Me, I feel cheated.
Not since Barry Rowlings left have I felt so dumped.
I've seen many of my favourite players leave, and understood.
But I couldn't with Barry......and I can't with Cyril.
I know I'm making it about me and that's a shitfull attitude.
Hopefully I'm a better man tomorrow and can follow the lead of a Hawk great, who walked tallest when we needed him, shined brightest when we couldn't imagine such audacious wizardry, and embodied the spirit in our greatest people - not merely among athletes.
Bye Cyril, have a feeling I'll still be missing you till the day I too have to leave.

Absolutely brilliant footballer, have loved watching him from the very start.

Was fortunate enough to meet him years ago and he was a terrific guy too, very friendly, a great bloke.

He’s provided so many great moments, can only imagine the joy you Hawks fans have got from having him over the years.

Wish him nothing but the best.

I'm selfishly absolutely shattered. I enjoyed every game of Cyril's sizzling career in the gold and brown and now realize I'll never get to watch him again. I've never seen a player with his talent, so freakish and maybe a one off type player. Thanks for the memories

Best wishes Cyril, a champ.
Four flags and a Norm Smith, now he just wants to be with his family and do other things with his life. Perfect :thumbsu:
thanks Wosh :)

Posting as a mid 30's year old, with multiple injuries seriously restricting how I enjoy my life and my kids, and knowing that Cyril has had numerous knee injuries amongst more than a few other injuries, I respect Cyril's decision to retire enormously. So many footballers go on and on through numerous injuries, until there body cannot take any more, respect goes to the little master pulling the pin with his body intact enough to love life with his family.

Oh how I'll miss watching him, I'm sure he can smell the leather of the ball, surely that's the only way he can repeatedly pluck a ball out of a pack when no one else even knows where the ball is.

As for those on the main board calling him over rated, they must never have watched him live.

Enjoy your retirement Cyril.

We all knew this was coming when he left a few weeks ago but the hammer has finally smashed through the glass and made it a reality. I think which heightens this retirement practically the of the 2008 premiership team era.

More than anything else we were blessed not only to experience a special player with skills that would genuinely make you giggle but for that player to be wrap in the full package of being a great human. We've seen him grow from the boy that was nervous to speak and shy away from the camera to be come one of the true leaders of greater community and a influential figure cross all people.

Love and respect to the man and the player. Brought joy to many and now wants some time to embrace the next phase of his life with his family. He has earned that and hopefully he finds a way to stay in touch with the club and suppprters when the time is right.

Will miss his freakish skill and watching defenders fumble and panic as he entered their area. All the best champ
