Autopsy Round 11, 2024 : Hawks poach the Lions

Absolutely. Thought the same thing. A number of other clubs look like they've just added a graphic or two to a normal jumper. Ours are a whole work of art and the limited colour palette works really well. Love them.
I may be biased but think our indigenous jumpers always look the best. Think the colours actually help us

Bud getting a lot more involved with the club. Does anyone know if this is by design?

I think it's just simply a case that now he's retired and away from footy he feels he's free to support whoever he wants. I wouldn't read too much into it.

We have a good ol' mix heading into the back half of the season - draftees and transfers. Our draftees, headed by Weddle and McKenzie are rapidly proving themselves at first team level - but is it a stretch to say that the significant improvement has been driven by players we signed from other clubs over the last 2-3 years?

Frost (GWS & Melb) , Scrimshaw (GCS), Impey and Amon (Port Adelaide) form the basis of a very solid back 6, with serious consideration to Frost and Scrimshaw being in career best?

Meek (Freo) is not just #1 ruck at an AFL club, he is pushing for a top 5 berth in the AFL.

D'Ambrosio (Essendon) improves weekly and is a best 22 lock.

It's the two forwards though who have exceeded all expectations.

Jack Ginnivan (Coll) a premiership player who has blown me away with his running and appetite for the contest. 16 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles a game whilst kicking 12.11

So many people thought this kid was trouble and I'm glad he has shown them for what they are - clueless. Tireless worker between the arcs, who has so much left go give.

Mabior Chol (Richmond & GCS) - go well big man! Who knew that being in a club that welcomes him, nurtures him, and supports him on and off the field would reap the rewards.
Shamefully treated by Richmond and Damien Hardwick, Chol has responded in the best possible way.
10 possessions, kicking 14.8 and taking 3 marks whilst laying 4 tackles per game - Chol is the win of the season for me.

On target to kick 35+ this season. What a result.

The recruiting of other teams 'cast-offs' to work alongside the draftees is paying dividends.

Bailey Smith and Eddie Ford next year?

Great work by Mark McKenzie and the Team.

One coach had Neale 2nd beat the other couldn’t find room for a vote..

I think that was a bit better than the dogs win but both fantastic. Most points covered, I think the most pleasant surprise for me was 2 blokes who rightly have been criticised for their kicking used the ball fantastically by foot. Well done Worps and CJ you were elite yesterday.
One area for improvement is I don’t get the Amon positional play it’s simply not working. He’s an elite kick sure and hits some great targets from full back, but most often it’s that long dump kick to the left back flank. If turned over then he has to defend, but he can’t defend he’s a wingman. Sicily and scrim can do just as well kicking out and if turned over they are better defenders. Amon and CJ off the wings kicking inside 50 looks lethal let’s get back to that.

I honestly can't remember a year in which all of our off season recruits have done so well.

I was big on Chol and Ginnivan coming over but D'Ambrisio has come out of nowhere and wouldn't suprise me if he gets a top 5 finish in the PCM end of year.

Meek as well, his improvement has been off the charts.

Just wanted to mention that I thought that this year's indigenous jumper inspired by Bateman's story by artist Jade Dolman was a true work of art. Both home and away versions are so striking and the players looked fantastic in them.
Hawks always have great indigenous jumpers. Our colours seem to work really well.

The colours and Hawk really complement the designs, I think we have the best indigenous jumper every year!

Edit: beaten to the punch... by everyone.

It is good though . Was brilliant seeing him back at the club last month and those little things are nice to see .

Shows he loves the club and is following us . Would be awesome for the young guys to see too .

He had a bit of a falling out with the Swans in his last year. Not sure if that’s impacting how he sees Hawthorn.

Seen a few comments about it being really cold there, I was just in a T-shirt and hoody and was perfectly comfortable. 🤷‍♂️

I was in just a t shirt and beanie. CBF taking a jumper as weather was nice outside. Last time I do that.

I think it’s inevitable that highly successful players have some level of resentment to the clubs they served so well, when they’re eventually told their time is up. We’ve had a few that didn’t appear to love the club anymore but once the dust settles they seem to eventually come back.

Watching Gunner turn back the clock as the ruthless assassin was a great trip down memory lane.

McKenzie doing a complete 360 with his confidence in front of the big sticks has been very encouraging.

The opposition having the yips was a refreshing change.

Dear just keeps hitting the scoreboard.
Chol showing what an asset he will be. Ruck forwards with his talent are rare. If he can bring the heat as well, we have a serious player.

Hawks beat Lions. 13 pages.

Hawks get beaten by Port. 27 pages.

Bad news sells.
Well it was the loss of the century. Never seen anything like it. AND it was both good news (3 brilliant quarters against top opposition) and shockingly bad news in one game.

They wouldn't give him another 9 years, this time for $13m due to inflation and the rising salary cap.

I was going to skip the 3rd quarter, but I ended up watching that too. I actually don't think we played too badly, we were creating opportunities but they just weren't quite working out. A bit unlucky at times. We played a lot better than I remember at the time.
