The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumors - part 2

ESPN News: Wenger doesn't know if Nasri will be at Arsenal next season. Would like to have him at United but my money is on him joining City. As for Sneijder, that deal seems dead, both Inter and SAF have denied anything is going on and if a deal was happening it would have been done by now.

Ha ha, excellent (on both fronts)

Not sure I'd put Robinho in there, he played pretty much exclusively on the wing or in a free role in midfield.

Jo cost a lot less too (had to actually perform for us to pay the performanced based part of the contract).

Sell Tevez (£40m), sell Adebayor (£10m), sell Santa Cruz (£3m) and we're left with Dzeko, Aguero and Balotelli for a nett outlay of just over £100m. Not too bad really, although theres been a lot of wages sunk into that list.

Doing that may be easier said than done!

Maybe, I'd be surprised if any of them were still City players come September and I'd be surprised if the fees were any less than the ones above.

Pastore is either going to Chelsea or PSG, bids confirmed.

I know PSG are rich and all, but really, a player like Pastore is well out of their league.

Always thought he'd suit Chelsea very well.

Forgot

Bellamy - 12 mill
Benjani - 4 mill
Caicedo - 6 mill

Don't think Bellend ever played up front for us either.

Going through the list:

Aguero - jury out
Dzeko - jury out
Balotelli - jury out
Santa Cruz - bad signing, could see that a mile off
Tevez - success
Adebayor - decent signing that ultimately won't work out.
Jo - bad signing
Benjani - unneccesary signing, but cheers for the winner in the Munich match
Caicedo - decent signing, and might have succeeded if not for takeover.

In the long run, you're not going to be able to jump straight from having the likes of Bernardo Corradi and Emile Mpenza up front for you to signing Kun Aguero.

A few outs for us. Kieran Trippier joins Ben Mee at Burnley on loan for the season. Michael Johnson goes to Leicester on loan for the season.

Really interested to see if Johnno can finally get over the injury problems and show what he is/was capable of. I know Sven really rates him.

€38m does seem a bit cheap for Fabregas, but I think it's best for Arsenal if he is sold this summer.

Keep hold of him, he's a year closer to the end of his contract (and free transfer) and you go through it all again this time next year.

Lukaku will sign for Chelsea - they're expected to announce it early next week. Chelsea's paying 15m.

Apparently they're still negotiating where he'll play this season. Lukaku would prefer to go straight away but Chelsea apparently would like to keep him in Belgium for another season. Lukaku doesn't want to be loaned out to any other club.

I'm obviously neutral in all this but I agree - the guy's actually putting in 3m of his own money to help fund the transfer (and has accepted to get a lower salary in Barcelona). What more do they want? Well, other than another 8m or so ;)

There are enough reasons you could sell him cheaper, but I don't think you will.

I don't mind us trying though - there's enough in our favour regarding this transfer to justify it. Not in the least the fact that missing out on him won't even be that bad for us.

Good on Arsenal. They set a price. It's a reasonable price considering the contract and the market and if Barcelona don't meet that price then **** em. And considering it's Barcelona rape them with a stick, just cause it feels right.

i agree with this. fabregas hasnt really expressed desire to leave arsenal, such as coming out and demanding a transfer. he's a captain and one of the best midfielders in the world. 40 mil or nothing barca.

I think what Fabregas has done is worse than simply ask for a transfer.

He's let the speculation run and run, and he's done nothing about it. I know he doesn't want to piss off the Arsenal supporters but if I was one of them I'd respect him more if he put his nuts on the line and made a clear statement about his future.

City have signed Costel Pantilimon from Timisoira as backup keeper. Played against us twice in the Europa League last season, can't say I remember anything about him from either match.

If he comes out and says "I want out" and the clubs don't agree on a fee, where would that leave him?

Sadly, we're just a fallback option for him now.

It is a risk to him, but at the moment he's damaging the club (IMO) by not taking that risk.

Everyone knows he wants out already, so why not just say it and respect the club a bit. If it didn't work out I reckon the gooner fans would be prepared to forgive him, so long as he puts the required effort in.
