They bought him for 10m, he's flopped, he's asking for a transfer and City don't even need him. Bayern are bidding 15m and yet, City are still demanding 20m.

Totally unreasonable.

What is a years accumulation of Manchester City Intellectual Property worth?

Modric has come out blasting Levy - desperate to leave. Says Levy has threatened to let Modric rot on the bench/stands all season.

No-one will win

Nevertheless, selling a player as good as Modric for 22m is completely ridiculous under any circumstance, especially to a rival.

In the worst case for us (arguably), he'll rot in the reserves, but at least that sends a message to all our other players who think they can get out by whinging.

What message does it send to the players that you want to recruit?

Sell him off, get in a replacement(s) nice and early and hope he break his leg 10 minutes into his debut for Chelsea.

Damn, that's classy ...

The message it sends is 'if you sign a contract and are happy to be paid millions in sign on fees and wages then you will be expected to honour it unless a club comes in with a suitable offer'.

Players have far too much power at the moment. About time a club stood up to the idiots.

Problem is the players would just go to another club where they could continue to dictate what they want

All it proves Borgsta is that the Portugese League and to a lesser extent La Liga have it 100% spot on in regards to transfer dealings. Every contract in football should have a buy out clause. Unlike the unrealistic crap ones La Ligas top teams hand out football should head down the path the Portugese league is with a third party (Sports Star funds etc) placing a reasonable price on a player and not budging until a club actually meets it.

The purchase clauses for players like Rolando, Falcao, Hulk at Porto are very fair and reasonable IMO and they are leading the way in regards to how to deal with transfers. Thats why so much young talent is and will continue to come from that rather mediocre league

You think £89m is a fair price for Hulk?

To be replaced by Wayne Bridge according to the rumours this morning. :thumbsu: FWIW, I think Konchesky is a decent enough player, will be a good signing for Leicester at that level, only shame about it is that they probably won't give a contract to Michael Ball who is also training there.

I think compulsory buyout clauses is a great idea, a club might put something ridiculous in there but at least there is no confusion and part of the contract negotiations might be to reduce the buyout clause.

The other thing I'd look at is extend tribunal assessed fees to all players, not just 23 and under. That way the power that players hold to just see out their contract and walk away for nothing is gone, at least the owning clubs will get a fair (ish) fee if the player does go somewhere else.

Will end up the same way too.

Why is Inter selling Sneijder? I read an article a fortnight ago where Sneijder said he is very happy in Italy why does he want to leave all of a sudden? Also where is Man Utd pulling 35 million from? Also 200,000 GBP's per week wow

Same place they've pulled the 50+ mill they've spent so far

Answer: They're not selling Sneijder.

Fergie's pretty much confirmed it's all media bullshit.

media bullshit.

Which party spreads the most BS?

The clubs
The managers
The players
The media

From reading the stuff on-line it all sounds like a pretty close run race.
