The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumors - part 2

Barcelona trying to tell Arsenal what Cesc is worth and they are the ones trying to prize him away. They are in no position to make demands on Cesc's transfer fee, he is the best central midfielder in the EPL today and should be sold for no less then 40 million quid. If Modric is worth 30 then I'd even venture to say that Cesc is worth 45 mill.

Perhaps Arsene could make a play for Mascherano to be included in the deal? Would add much needed steel to Arsenal and his style of play really does not fit Barca IMO.

Agree exactly with that, there is no way Arsenal would ever let Fabregas go for under 40 mill.
Mascherano would be handy for Arsenal, but I don't think he would fit into Arsenal's style of play either. Sergio Busquets would be perfect for them, but highly doubt he'd want to go to England, let alone a transfer deal being able to be worked out with Fabregas and Busquets.

No Barcelona are stating what they are willing to pay. Teams tend to do that in negotiations.
Then clearly you don't watch much of Modric. I actually believe Modric would be a better fit @ Barcelona for taking over the Xavi role (Not a better player, a better fit)

Fairly standard negotiating tactic I would think. Barca say "£27m and we can't possibly go a penny more, Arse say £50m and we won't accept a penny less.

They're both lying and the true figures lie somewhere between the two.

IMO the worst thing Arsenal could do is keep Fabregas at the club. They won't be able to move forward until he's gone I reckon.

Spot on. It hurts to say it but now is the time go our seperate ways.

27m for Fabregas, these blokes are kidding themselves. He is worth in excess of 40m. But due to the situation that we're in I reckon 35m will get the deal done.

I reckon Jeffren to be honest. He is a gun winger, the problem is we don't use wingers, or at least not ones like Jeffren. Good passer, great crosser, and pace to burn. Would fit it nicely with Arsenal IMO. Would also be looking at maybe getting one of our young CBs, as we have a few who are quite promising.

If there were an exchange deal, Arsenal will likely demand a player like Thiago Alcantara. I doubt they'd take plonkers like Bojan or Jeffren (who is off to Udinese IIRC).

What Moomba said. Apparently he is interested in moving to England, with the main interest in him coming from Liverpool.

And he is not a plonker, very good player that just doesn't fit into our system, would be very good in the EPL in my opinion.

Would be extremely pissed if we give up Thiago, as he seems to have a very bright future, and I would honestly rather keep him and work him through the team than spend big on Cesc. Really think this Cesc deal is a bad idea.

The way I see it the team, especially the midfield is pretty much perfect as it is. As evidenced my margins of victory and ease at winning things. The team functioned perfectly last season.

Any change to that balance - anyone from that midfield replaced and the whole balance and structure is altered. Any change in personnel will do that.

It's an expensive risk. Bordering on obsession.

Barcelona don't need to do it.

Xavi and Iniesta are both getting on though, Iniesta in particular isn't a 38 match a season proposition any more. I think the pursuit of Cesc is as much about the future as the here and now. I see him more a replacement for Iniesta than Xavi, can't think who is the ideal replacement when he hangs up the boots.

but cesc is going to demand/be paid/bought as a starting XI player.
xavi and iniesta aren't going anywhere yet.
he will play alongside them, when all are fit. not sure why you'd mess with something, or want to mess with something that was perfect already.

Juve looking to sign Serio Aguero

"We will probably meet with Aguero's agents in the middle of next week," Marotta told Gazzetta Dello Sport. "He is a great player - young but already with a lot of experience. It is our objective to sign him - we really like the player."

I rate Aguero very highly, always thought he would have gone to one of the big English Premier League clubs if he moved away from Atletico. Could be just what Juventus needs to fight for another Serie A title

One of them would have to want him first. (or be able to afford)
I suspect those who can afford, aren't interested as they're already happy with what they have/are going to have.

Are most of the transfers get announced after July 1st?

Its been been a bit quiet lately..

I just think it is a bit of a lull at the moment.

Very strong rumor that we have sealed Mata already and will be announced on July 1. Hope it is true.

Will fit in well.;)

Lol, why do Liverpool fans think they've got such a big chance of signing Mata?

He's already playing for one of the bigger Spanish Clubs and adding to that, they're playing in the Champions League.

If he ever did ask for a move, there will be a huge battle for his signature. I wonder who he'd choose between Liverpool or teams like Chelsea, Inter and Man City?
