They are Spurs.

So, probably about 8m, since no-one can turn down the opportunity to play for Spurs and Villareal would be stupid to turn down any bids from Spurs, they'd get a good rep throughout world football for being good to do business with once they get their name associated with a transfer involving Spurs.

You're an idiot, actually.

What basis do you have for that?

Again, why exactaly would the Manure buy another striker?

Javier Hernandez can't get a game there so you'd think they're covered there for now, whereas their best central midfielder is 36 years old

When did in Embers post did he say they would bid for Rossi? He was just asking a question, not petitioning Fergie to bid 35m for Rossi you idiot. Not that you could actually get Rossi anyway, way out of your league.

They have a sell on clause! Meaning, they get a % of any fee that Villareal sell him for.

At no point was the first option clause mentioned. (Which apparently they also have).

The major reason Carroll signed for Liverpool was money.

He would've stayed with us if we offered him the same money Liverpool did - hardly what I'd call going to Liverpool 'for the step up' as most Liverpool fans want to believe.

Enrique is gone in the summer, probably to Spain or Italy, but he won't go to a team that isn't playing Champions League football.

Actually didn't Carroll sign because Newcastle told him to go? So Carroll signed because Newcastle wanted the money?

Nope, Carroll heard through his agent what Liverpool were going to offer him and went to Newcastle and said 'can you match it?'... but having just signed a new deal himself in October, the club refused to give in and said if he wanted that much, he'd have to go to Liverpool to get it.

Then Carroll handed in his transfer request and here we are.

JW pretty much got it.

He tried to call the clubs bluff, but the club didn't move because deep down we wanted to accept the offer - and it would also look shit to the rest of the players if we gave him a new contract after only having his for 3 months.

Will be interesting to see what Newcastle do in the summer. Think Pardrew has a bit of a dilemna on his hands as far as what system to eventually play. He loves his 4-4-2 but his squad will best suit a 4-4-1-1 at present. Whatever he decides will dictate the transfer activity. If it was up to me Id play a 4-4-1-1 and really chase after a unrealistic signature ie. Karim Benzema. Id say Newcastle are deadset certainties to buy Stephen Warnock and will probably take Matthew Upson now I think about it. Something like

Harper
Simpson Williamson Colocinni Warnock
Barton Nolan Tiote Jonas
Ben Arfa
Benzema

Krul, Taylor, Upson, ???, ???. ???, ???. Best

With a bit more spent to add depth to the overall squad.

Coloccini is on £70k a week, but he won't be getting it again. He was offered that before the financial state of the club was known by Mike Ashley.

We've got a £50,000 a week ceiling on all new signings - could be stretched to £60-£65k a week depending on the player but there's no way we'll be offering anyone close to £100k per week.

Surely the big money coming in for Carroll/Enrique along with the success of recent signings the club could afford to splurge abit. 50k a week ceiling wont even get ya Carlton Cole.

I keep hearing how players like Rossi are out of our league but now, Newcastle should go after Benzema?

Please.
