I mean for this to be true, it would require Luke Parker to have spoken to Tom Harley, told him that he's not going anywhere and is committed to the club only to meet with another club less than 3 days later.

I don't buy this for a second.

Harley could be lying

Harley could be lying

Possible. But again, I don't buy that the club would decide to get on the front foot on radio and the website and bold-faced lie that they had spoken to Parker and he said he wasn't going anywhere.

Why would they? They could just say he's a contracted, important player and we have no intention of trading him like everyone else does.

This is exactly the difference and why Parker is going nowhere. The language when Hannebery was first rumoured to be leaving was very general - "contracted player, expect him to be here next year" etc. The language with the Parker situation was an emphatic no, under any circumstances.

Hard to know what to believe, Parker stuff could be true.

Less than a month ago, Andrew Ireland said this about Hanners;

“I don’t think it will — I think Dan will still be with us for the remainder of his contract. We didn’t sign him on that long term contract, nor did he sign his side of the contract not to be with us. While there’s a lot of talk of it, I suspect the much higher percentage is that he is going to be with us going into the future.”

If he's decided he wants out there isn't too much that the club can do, is there?

We would probably still demand their 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks as well

who knows

if a contracted key player demands a trade you either call their bluff or trade them and if you only have one club to deal with you wont get full value.

No, Contract Law and Consumer Law are completely different and the difference is in their title. Do you think they’d have two laws that mean and do the same thing? C’mon, that’s ridiculous. Consumer law is all about the individual, contract law encapsulates more than one party. This is the basic difference between the two! Why you ask? You cannot form a contract with yourself i.e. it’s not about you (I don’t mean you personally)!
Just been involved in a case where consumer law overrides contract law. Depends on the consumer and the contract. Anyway back to the draft and trade hypotheticals.

saints mccartin on the table according to an essendon flog i know for hanners, but this is the hypothetical thread so ill post the shit anyway

wouldn't surprise me if he was on the table. Forwards take longer to develop, but, I am not sure he will make it. I wouldn't take him for Hanners.

It would be a very naive approach from the club to come out and so emphatically state that Parker was going nowhere - in particular the inclusion of 'we have spoken with Luke yadda yadda yadda'. As you say, its one thing to say he is contracted, he isn't going anywhere - but its another thing to come out as they did earlier in the week then suddenly have a huge change of direction 2 or 3 weeks later, where it included quite emphatically that we had spoken to the player about it. Especially for a player that is surely a critical part of our team over the next few years.

Nope I wouldn't want him either. Only reason they are throwing him on the table is that they think we might go all romantic and want to link him up with his brother - and hence they can get further 'unders' on what they can offer to secure Hanners.

He's contracted, so the club has no obligation to trade him. Unless Parker wants to sit out of the competition for 3 years, he plays on.

But, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that he wants out. Damian Barrett using it as his click bait headline is one thing, but people taking it hook, line, and sinker is another.

I know we're all a bit bored but I do find it amusing how quickly people buy in to the rumours.

Excellent...you’ll be happy to state the case then?

No way Parker goes this trade window. Would make Harley look like a complete incompetent goose. The talk about Hanners is that their had been no trade sorted, he is contacted and much higher chance of staying than leaving.

Parker was an emphatic under no circumstances no.

If Parker asks out as well Horse would come under serious scrutiny and so would've/should've Harley if he wasn't being promoted.
