They even show explosions in space wrong in soft sci-fi, but we all accept it as just a movie/TV thing (like sound in space). But when you see something that strains credibility to the point of ridiculousness you have to laugh. Surely they were taking the piss out of fans with that fire-in-space crap. I also don't understand why, out of all the fandoms in the world, if you dare criticize anything in SW, then you get hounded by people like you've personally insulted them. It's a weird world.
It simply exists because Leslye Headland is a shit writer. She needs the fire for Osha to have the flashback but can't figure out another way to do it.
10 different writers on the 8 episodes of this show. You'd think one of the daft campaigners would be able to catch stuff like that.

It's such an easy thing to fix. Cut that entire scene. There were fires inside the prison transport ship when it was tumbling out of control that would have been a better set up for a flashback. Same with the ridiculous crash landing with no injuries. Have her gain some control over the ship before it goes down.

I really don't know what all the running about and falling off a cliff on the snowy planet was about but they could have at least had the actress look a little chilly. Note that Yord uses his light saber to illuminate the cave when they just told us a few minutes ago that a Jedi doesn't pull his weapon unless he's prepared to kill.

The twins murder mystery trope didn't even get past the first episode. It was reliant on them having exactly the same hairstyle as each other after 16 years apart.

The biggest nonsense was having Osha, the main suspect for killing a Jedi Master, being transported in a low security prison ship - so that the rest of the thin plot can happen.

"They" was a villain talking from her perspective, not the show telling you a black and white rule.

It's shit like this that spirals into huge criticisms when they're people just not understanding what they're watching.

Typical of you to pick one small part of what someone says to white ant their main argument. And you wonder why you've been accused of being an attack dog defending the poor Disney SW shows.

Which shows have I defended? :)

I picked out that part because I've seen articles written about how it 'changed canon' and other absurdities, and it seems like it's going down the same route as Kylo's 'kill the past' line so it seemed wise to nip it in the bud.

For what it's worth I agree you could have cut the external scene and had the flashback in the prison scene, however I think that could have broken the flow of that scene so don't think it's quite as clear.

Frank Bunn?

Considering I've been highly critical of Mandalorian S3, Ahsoka, and the second half of BoBF, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. Could you please clarify? Or is this a bit of white anting of your own?

Because it’s tied in deep into our childhood now for those of us who are 50-60 years old

I’m not speaking for any other group but you either loved the 1977-83 trilogy to death or you didn’t

Those that get defensive are defending a childhood memory

It’s killing us that from 1983 to 1999 we had nothing only to have 8 films come out that never captured those first three and of which the the last two prequels arguably wrecked the first three.

And then to have 2 excellent seasons (Mando) and 1 excellent (Andor) is a devastating strike rate. We dreamt of Tv spin offs in the 80’s, and now that we finally get them and get dished up questionable tv is upsetting

I guess we mostly feel let down

I think Star Wars gets held to a higher standard than it should IMO.

Great popcorn fare executed really well with New Hope and Empire (personally don't care for 50% of RoTJ).

Incredibly hard to make something really good without leaning on nostalgia.

It's no surprise that the best stuff has been distanced a fair bit from the force and Jedi (Rogue One/Andor).

It's been a mixed bag as mentioned previously, and Acolyte has been far from perfect, but holy shit has the reaction to the first two episodes been OTT.

This the problem with Disney Star Wars right now the people in charge are only focused on pleasing the woke brigade and pushing identy politics.

On top of this you then have Disney shills shitting on the fan base calling them racists and all sorts of things becuase they don't like the product they are producing.

All fans care about at the end of the day is memorable characters you care for and great story telling and Disney have failed big time on this.
If you aren't watching the show why get wound up by it?

Why even engage with posters who go on about 'identity politics' and 'woke brigade/agenda' and 'shill' and 'diversity garbage'? They are not looking for a genuine discussion or are open to constructive dialogue. Ignore.

Yeah I did the first three posts but now it's just clogging up the thread.

People think I 'ruin' these threads but the amount of garbage over the last two pages......

I will watch the 3rd episode and hope it gets better, because the first 2 episodes were just really poor (and no, not just because fire in space before the defenders arrive). The characters just were not likeable, the story is a bit shit and too much stupid stuff happened. Lets see if it can find its footing and improve, but I dont have high hopes.

lol. Yes because he’s an incredibly neutral and objective observer. Definitely has no axe to grind or ideology driven grift to profit from.

Yep he is doing well bashing sh!te movies & TV shows of late. Its not that hard to do either considering the amount of material Disney has thrown their way.

Kind of ironic where Disney Corp has ended up considering the nature of the founder, Walt Disney as a person.

It's pretty simple... really. The people running the place are a combination of: (1) untalented, so they can't tell coherent, complex or elevated stories; and (2) utterly terrified of telling a traditional story.

Imagine a traditional hero's journey, with great effects, positive characters that reflect the audience they have and the world of Star Wars to set it in. That's money in the bank, at least as a one off. But they're terrified of doing anything that appeals to the base. So they try to do "nuanced" stories but can't keep track of the lore and common sense when trying to execute or they try and appeal to a tiny slice of potential viewers at the cost of the expansive core of the Star Wars fandom.
