Or as I said, some of the points made about some of the stupid things that happened are actually good points. Because stupid things happen that you would think decent writers of a show would realise, are in fact, stupid.

Stupid things like happen all through SW in every medium. The fact someone in this very thread had a cry that the shot lasted two seconds too long in a particular scene is just mind boggling. People criticising it for having flames in space as if that hasn't been present since ANH. People want to hate something and work backwards to justify it.

But if you don't like it, no one's forcing you to watch it.

Equally, it's fine for some to find faults with it, voice them and then continue to watch as well.

Ultimately the show is only two eps old so far, I'm holding complete judgement until I've seen it through.

"Find some faults" is not equivalent to "That shot lasted two seconds too long in that one scene so the show is mid".

That's only one poster.

Right? I'm not saying no one who isn't gushing over it isn't allowed to keep watching am I?

You also never answered me when I asked what you were hoping for when you said you were disappointed?

No, you just go at any post that isn't positive like an attack dog :tearsofjoy:

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what the episodes look like next week.

Do I? Other than old mate talking about the shot lasting two seconds too long I don't think I've even directly engaged on any negative post other than to explain the concept of review bombing.

I don't think asking you what you were hoping for is 'an attack dog' stance, but getting a bit weird you're still refusing to vocalise what you actually wanted from the show that you didn't get in the first two eps.

George?

Yes you do. EVERY SW thread

Care to find, I dunno, three posts in here where I've told people with a negative view they were wrong? I could find a dozen of me talking to people about the positive things and agreeing with people, but hey, you feel vilified for not liking flames in space, you do you.

Also quite strange given how critical I was of Mandalorian S3, Ahsoka and Book of Boba Fett towards the end that I supposedly bash haters in every thread.

There are some points that he raises, and have been raised by others that are valid. However, I simply cannot take people like him or Nerdrotic or Geeks & Gamers, etc seriously. They have an obvious agenda and are pushing it to a market that, frankly, stopped being Star Wars fans a long time ago.

Well derp. That's why I took out the 1 and 10 scores to get an average of 4.75.

But it's not as simple as that? Did you count up the negative scores and count up the positive scores to make sure it was the same number of each dropping out? The score is trash in general and isn't as simple as just dropping off both extremes. Even before the days of review bombing, are you more likely to go onto one of those things if you hated a show and give a review, or if you thought it was a reasonable 7/10? So already there's a natural bias towards people who hated a product. Even for something like Andor which I thought was the best Star Wars produced content pretty much ever, and as close to a 10/10 for me, I haven't been motivated to jump on and give a score for, but if a show was attrocious, destroyed the fabric of the product, etc. I'd be more likely to jump on and rant and rave about it. It's human nature. Critic scores are much more accurate as they're more likely to give a balanced view.

That’s why I never buy anything based on customer reviews. We have a need to be heard when something disappoints us whereas satisfaction doesn’t move us to communicate it the same way.

So no one is allowed to use an example to back up their point of view? What's your desired amount of evidence?

You misquoted me also, 2 seconds is not a few. Try like 6-7.

You are exactly the problem I was mentioning. People are allowed to think it's an average show without you belittling and misrepresenting them because you strongly feel one way. I'm new to this thread/space but based on the comments of others it seems like you are a recidivist.

I'll let you in on a secret. Most people want to like the content they are generally interested in. They don't sit down desperate to hate what they watch in their time off from their daily responsibilities.

I'll let you in on a secret: this is very much not the case these days.

I have no issues if you don't like a show or think an element was disappointing. As I said to GC, I was very critical of Ahsoka which I was very disappointed in. Just provide actually reasonable points, not things as minute as a shot lasting slightly too long or whatever it might be. Don't like some cheesy dialogue? Or a character's arc? Or the (genuine) plot holes in an episode? By all means!

But you might find online that particularly when it comes to SW amongst other franchises, there's a lot of people who watch purely to disparage or discredit a production and pick holes in things that aren't there.

I'll leave it there as I wouldn't want people to think I'm some sort of 'attack dog', but I think you'll find if you read back through this thread I've been much keener to celebrate the things I liked about the episodes, or chat to other people who are genuinely looking for a discussion, than I have with people who have looked to poke minor quibbles in the episodes (outside of yourself and I suppose GC).

So an example of poor cinematography isn't valid when discussing the technical aspects of the show? Some people care about technical aspects like lighting/editing/cinematography more than others when watching film/TV. Why does that give you a right to paint my criticism as something it's not because you don't agree on the type of criticism provided?

Also you're only partly right regarding the SW community.

A larger minority than usual will hate on it to simply push their social dogma that SW is being run into the ground by women/minorities/lgbtqi+ people etc etc.I agree with you there. But it's not the majority. The show would have been viewed by millions of people, how many 1 star reviews are there? If it's less than half the viewership number then they're a minority.

I'll let you in on a secret, the majority don't give a shit either way. They just want to watch good television.

I think we’re all fans which is what makes us so passionate in our responses. We all absorb it differently but at the end of the day we all want it to succeed.

Take me for example. I’ve basically enjoyed everything that’s come out since the prequels. Even those movies I’ve learned to put a positive spin on as well. It’s always been like that with Star Wars, for good and bad.

The super chuds and those who promote bad-faith, ultra negative, and toxic commentary I have no time for though. They’re everything that’s wrong with our fandom today.

I can accept space ships making whirring and whooshing noises in the vacuum of space. It enhances the experience, a bit like an electric vehicle generating the sound of an exhaust or changing gear. But flames on the outside of a spaceship is just dumb. It was a idiotic way to show Osha having a mini flashback.

Yeah, it’s stupid but it literally happens in every Star Wars that ever warred.

If we’re going to get all scientifically accurate then fire in space is a loooong way down the list of improbabilities.

Literally every time a ship explodes in Star Wars is a 'fire in space' so I'm really at a loss for why this particular flame was such an issue. But people keep fighting the pointless fight I guess.
