Thats why its a 3 term election win. They will win back a few seats in Sydney over the next two elections but they will have to find and groom a new, more in touch leader. Dutton is old school and frankly not wanted.

Our democracy needs to have a strong Opposition, the current benefit is we don’t have an ALP with a massive majority, which is actually a good thing.

Generally over many decades, we have had the Coalition with massive majorities in the HOR (prior to 2016) which has been to the detriment of the country (examples - 2004 and 2013 election victories saw extreme policies introduced or try to be introduced).

The whole idea of a strong opposition to hold the government to account is rubbish because from what i've observed in the 2 decades of my voting career is merely most if not all opposition is opposing literally anything the government of the time puts down. The more important thing is balance of rule. Classic example is SA labor. Lead the state for 16 years in what was a really successful time. However, in the last term, they were arrogant, tired and simply lacked answers under weatherill. But before that when the lib party were considered a joke for the longest time, labor did a good job. You want a change in party leadership at least once in every decade to maintain political balance. Even happens in the USA. for all the huffing and puffing, change in political leadership happens consistently.

It was a good food for thought well educated and researched speech that wasn't attacking anyone. But you wouldn't know that. You'd thought you'd show your complete lack of intelligence by laughing to devalue a post you really have no idea what it was about.
